Thanks for finding that Forbes article, wp.
This was so refreshing to read. Finally someone tells the whole story. So sick of outsiders only noticing when DominAYTON makes his rare appearances, or insiders that broadcast the Ayton Propaganda Network all day, everyday. For whatever reason, Ayton has become the barometer by which all of the Suns are often measured. The man who has simultaneously been a big-minute starter and an afterthought, who they did not much value yet whom they gave a maximum salary to, who they would not extend but who they would match an offer sheet for, and who can be both underwhelming and irreplaceable, occupies an enigmatic place in the hearts and minds of his own team's fanbase, let alone the wider basketball world.
Up to a point, this is understandable, because there was never a consistency to what he did. At times, Ayton was frustrating. At times, he was tantalising. At times, he defaulted to soft finishes when he had the distinct size advantage and squandered the mismatch. At others, he just mashed it in defender's faces. The opinion of Ayton fluctuated because the impact of Ayton fluctuated.

I know Paul is reportedly close to returning, but I still wish we had a third point guard behind Payne. It's not DWJ, and I guess you could count Shamet. But I'd take Trey Burke in that role over those two.

Would you trade Crowder for a PG? If so, any specific ones in mind?

Not sure why the jazz would do this, I would think they’d be more interested in trading Clarkson over sexton but I like the idea of it.

This would be awesome, but I don't think there's any way the Jazz do this. We get the best players by far in the trade, and you figure Ayton, Bridges, Booker, Sexton, plus whatever means those picks are going to be late firsts.Wally_West wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 10:33 am

I wouldn't give up 2 FRPs for that package. If we were to give that much up, I think there's more we could get.

I probably don't value late first rounders enough, but Sexton and Vanderbilt are both really, really good players that fill huge areas of need for us. Maybe there's a way to get Clarkson too, or only include 1 pick. But I think Sexton could eventually fill CP3's spot if we did something like this.
Honestly, initially I was hoping we could get Paul Reed + more from the 76ers for Crowder, but I think he's playing too well for them right now for them to do that?

I probably wouldn't have a PG be the focal point of the deal. Remember, we just need a third point guard, probably won't even be someone that sees the court every night.
I think the Knicks are the obvious trade partner. Toppin and Quickley are the main targets. The Suns were rumored to have interest in Reddish last year, but his lack of rebounding and immaturity scare me a bit. Toppin would be perfect for us, IMO. I would look to get Arcidiacono as throw in to be that third emergency point guard that we need.
