Terrence Ross plans to sign with the Phoenix Suns

Post by Suns_Dave »

Ross was my top target in the buyout market. Should help shore up depth at the critical wing position.

Sounds all part of the plan. Do these guys know one another?

Does that make Ross an apostle?

That is an upgrade. I'd like a stretch big or another PG
Jones and Vogel gotta go.

Looks like everyone's wish to see Shamet glued to the bench will come true.

The way that Woj tweet is worded makes me think he hates James Jones.

Dallas thought they had it locked down. Suns swooped in at the last minute.

I kinda thought maybe Monty gave him some assurances that he’d play. I don’t think he’ll start, but first crack at Bookers backup. Maybe we move Shamet more into the Payne backup role.

I had no idea he was as athletic as he is. We could use some of those drives he made as much or more than his 3's

More deep diving on Terrence Ross. You can see he wants to play meaningful ball.

Exactly what I was thinking watching those highlights. Wow. I thought he was just a high percentage 3 point shooter. This is getting exciting.

He is the kind of player who could get hot and win a playoff game by himself, which was something we didn’t have much of off the bench (presuming he doesn’t start).

He's more likely to be the guy I thought Landry Shamet would be than anyone we've had on the roster in this era.

Much like Bazley in OKC, Ross has been put on the shelf a bit this year because Orlando wants to develop other guys. They did right by him with the buy out and keeping his legs fresh. The league knows what he can provide offensively and I don't really see why he can't average double-digits off of the bench for this Suns team.

I know one person who for sure will be a fan of this move is EJ

Every time we've played against him he gives the same scouting report with a lot of

"Man this guy....."
"Have to know where he is at all time"
"Can get hot and give you thirty"

I know Ross has had good games against us over the years so EJ is always quick to send out the warning bell when he would sub in 🤦🏾‍♂️

Yeah Dunk Contest Raptors T-Ross was for sure a thing. I didn't watch the above clips but I guess he should still have some springs left over lol
Have no clue about his D tho but he for sure isn't slow footed so that comes down to effort so I would like to think the guy longing for Playoff ball gonna be hungry

Really like this move, didn't think we'd get him. Looking at the roster we have, we need the scoring and wing depth. I just don't trust TJ and Bazley is more of a roleplaying defensive big (if he plays). And while we got Durant back in the trade, we lost a lot of shooting/scoring. Barton wouldn't have helped as much in those areas. Jackson might've been the better overall talent, but Ross will fit in well at the 2/3.

He’s very JR-Smithy and I mean that in a good way…I don’t think he’s the Shaqtin a fool JR Smith type…just the hyper athletic and can get nuclear hot from 3.

I wonder if Coach Monty told him that he may start. We do need a reliable 5th starter to go along with our death lineup. Craig is a decent option and better defender, but his janky shooting is a concern. I like Okogie as a 5th starter, but maybe they prefer his energy off the bench. Ross could be the guy they have in mind.

We’d be basically saying best defense is a great offense…which is kinda true. Even the worst half-court defenses are better than the best transition defenses. So if we make shots and can get set, we might just hold up. I do worry about Book having to do a ton defensively. Ross would get some incredible looks though and could obliterate teams when he’s on. I called him JR Smith earlier but we had another very similar player here in Gerald Green as well. Ross isn’t quite the athlete of Green, but similar.
