If Paul goes down, and Payne is our only option...hell yeah that worries me...specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:51 amOur biggest issue was not backup PG. It was not having a true #1/#2. We got KD, then solidified our bench with Ross and TJ.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 3:35 amThe thing that's so frustrating is that the largest issue we have, backup PG, is still our biggest...if Eric Gordon was the difference maker and he could have been had cheap, without having to have a KD out there to have beat them, that says something...Superbone wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 7:52 pmThey got Gordon and Plumlee for cheap and they've made a big difference. Okogie has earned the starter roll, I think Warren will improve with time if he's healthy and I don't get the hate for Saben Lee... I think he's a good 3rd choice or sometimes second when Payne's back ... but yeah we'd all fill more comfortable with someone better right now.
Eric Gordon was a steal for the Clippers, he really hurt us in that game. (though not as much as Mann)
Is C Payne adequate? Probably not. But chill. He won’t be on ball much anyway.
We got motherfucking KD and we’re whining about Eric Gordon!

I feel like there's about an 80% chance of CP3 going down at some point in the playoffs, and then our offense will devolve into your-turn my-turn with Book and KD, which will be easier to defend.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 10:06 amIf Paul goes down, and Payne is our only option...hell yeah that worries me...

b. Eric Gordon in the Clippers game had 7 assist and 0 turnovers, and 2 steals...so, there's that.
c. The original point wasn't about Eric...it was simply that we are weak on backup PG and it hurts us badly when Chris goes down. That point is tough to deny...and Eric as an example would have helped there...and my original point was to see if we saw any bodies elsewhere where we might shore it up. I pointed out G League as sometimes there's talent there that is missed (s.a. Dinwiddie was at one point.) So...shrug...ignore as you will, but this is still and will continue to be a red flag issue unless addressed. KD is great...but I'd feel better w/KD AND a better PG option after Paul.

Despite all this, I'm not very sad we missed out on Eric Gordon. He's a bit too long in the tooth for me. If we want a backup for CP3, not much good to get a guy only a few years younger who also seems out of shape and old.

I, for one, can’t wIt until he retires so we can stop talking/hearing about the Suns needing him. Much like me with your mom, Jock Landale knows how to take it to the hole. And much like your mom, Jock Landale has impressive ball-handling skills.
