What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Craig has been bad since the arrival of KD. Okogie has been pretty darn good overall IMO considering how small of a role he was supposed to have this year. His defense and offensive rebounding have been a huge lift.Democritus wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 3:35 amNo bench no win, also Craig and JO not good enough to start on a playoff team..that's it I'm afraid.

The Ayton hate is unreal. He can shoot over whatever shoulder he wants if he keeps hitting 13 of 19.
Ayton and Booker were awesome. Okogie was ok. The rest of the team was utter trash. It was the "others" and the 4-21 from 3 that lost the game.

Exactly. Not the game to bash DA, he was part of the only reasons this wasn’t a 40 point L.
KD or no KD, we have a serious talent/IQ issue from the 6th man-15th man.
It’s bad when Ish is the only player in that group I trust to be consistent. He’s not very good so that’s an insult to everyone else, not a compliment for him necessarily
Ross is basically not playable defensively, if he’s not hitting 3s and getting opportunities to score he is God awful.
Payne continues to puzzle me why the organization hasn’t even bothered to attempt to upgrade the backup PG spot in 3 years. We were down 15 in the 4th and during a timeout he’s just sitting there banging his head to the music playing in the arena. I took a video of it wish I could post it here. Dude is lost.
Lee is not a rotation guy, no matter how badly Monty wants him to be. He’s got a nice corner 3, but his lack of smarts on O and ability frankly on D to stay in front of his man and Not give up an and-1 is God awful. He is a 10th-11th man at best.
It’s bad when I miss Shamet. He’s at least somewhat decent on defense. I just need a player to be borderline average off the bench at this point. A bench rotation of Shamet, Ish/Ross and Craig should be enough in the playoffs to go with our 5 starters if Landry can ever heal up
Re: Game Day: Suns (37-30) @ Warriors (35-33), Mon 3/13/23
I think Craig's a rhythm player and swinging back and forth between starting and the bench has messed him up. He's kind of an x-factor for us as a swing with some size and length so if he's turns back to shit, we're kind of screwed. We don't have any other real option at that 4 spot without KD so we need to get him right at some point heading into the playoffs.

I think Craig plays best as the first one off the bench. While waiting for KD to get back, I think I'd try two things before the playoffs, just to get a feel for them.
The first, more conventional, idea would be to start TJ. We know the guy can score, and just throwing him into garbage time minutes just seems to be a huge waste. Start him and see if that gets him going.
The second, less conventional, idea is to start Biyombo at C and let Ayton play the 4. If he's going to settle for jumpers anyways, put him in a spot offensively where we might be able to exploit some mismatches or he can maybe get some high low action going with Biyombo. I think Ayton can play defense from the PF spot well enough and Biyombo is a good help defender.
Anyways, just ideas that will never happen!

Ya I’m kinda excited for Shamet. Think he’ll be pretty good for us

He’ll be what he’s always been for us; a reliable ball handler and defender, and a very streaky shooter.

Appreciate the conversation but these are pie in the sky ideas for even October, let alone March.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 8:33 amThe first, more conventional, idea would be to start TJ. TJ isn’t good enough to try to “get him going” because he’s never going to deserve big minutes on this team. He simply doesn’t defend or shoot better than Okogie or Craig.
Ayton can shoot his shots which aren’t the shots the PF gets in the Suns offense. More simply, he’s not suited to play PF because he doesn’t have range. Neither does Biyombo for that matter.

Well I said I don't think these guys are all that then Suns play maybe the worst quarter, definitely 1st quarter I've seen in some time
Allowing Klay wide open looks who I still think has some ridiculous shot selection more often than not but when you give him an early rhythm it obviously could be problematic
Man that 1st quarter
If I was watching ESPN I might have turned off but EJ was doing his usual, "beauty of the 24sec shot clock theory and comebacks" so I was sipping that Kool Aid lol
Once we realized there was a game going on I had the bad feeling it would be one of those What If games that we claw back but come up short.
I like the fact that Book still got an efficient 30
DA's 3rd quarter like everyone says was impressive, dude was playing so strong n decisive
I remain not too concerned about these if this is the 4/5 matchup

Yeah, I wouldn't throw Okogie in with Craig. Totally different stories.djy2j wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 7:18 amCraig has been bad since the arrival of KD. Sorry, I can't help it because of his overall #1 pick status and max salary. He's been great but he could be SO much more. Plus, his talk of DominAyton doesn't help.

His production comes from someone setting him up, without KD its Booker or bust, you'd figure a max guy could consistently get his own offense but he's just a catch and shoot or roll guy, they need more than that fir his price.

It’s Jason Momoa.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 6:14 amIs that your actual chest?Wally_West wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 10:18 pmGood thing, too. Don’t mean to brag but I’m pretty proud of ‘em.

If Trump can claim Stallone’s pecs, then West can claim Momoa’s.

I get it. I see the same things. He can be frustrating at times, but I think we should acknowledge when he has good game. You're generally positive and, therefore, ok in my book.
I'll direct my ire to those more deserving, like... Ross!

Tough loss. Klay was red hot. Suns got back in it, but Warriors went on a run to seal the deal.
At least the Suns won the season series 3-1.
