Been wondering if Vogel is more of a proponent of resting guys here and there or strategically holding them out on B2B or against lesser opponents. Thought we could've done a better job of that under Monty especially over the past two seasons.
That's a good question. Pretty sure he held out LeBron and AD liberally if I remember right. It would be good to go back to his Indiana teams and see how he handled "load management." Anybody recall?
Looks like he didn't "load manage" much in Indiana. Paul George, Roy Hibbert, David West etc. all played 78+ games most seasons that they were healthy. Minutes weren't usually out of control, 32-34 for starters although George did have a couple of years at 38-ish.

Thanks. It'll be interesting to see how he handles Book in particular. He never wants to come out. Will Vogel try to reign him in at least a little?

His time in Indiana ended over 7 years ago. Load management wasn't really a thing yet back then.

I'm not down on Cam, but I think it makes since to move him and Wainright to open up a roster spot and maybe add another second round pick.

For example:
  • Payne/Wainright to Detroit for Killian Hayes/2nd round pick
  • Payne/Wainright to Cleveland for Ricky Rubio/2nd round pick
  • Payne to New Orleans for Kira Lewis/2nd round pick
Rubio would be IS perfect.
Fixed that for Marty.
To truly fix the post, you have to cross out those other blasphemous trades that do NOT involve trading for Rubae.

I was wondering about that. Good point. I don't remember it being a thing until the last 5 years or so.

Would love any of these trades. But why would the other teams do it …?

Detroit wants to win now; Killian Hayes is in the last year of his contract and still can't shoot.
Ricky Rubio may be done as an NBA player.
Kira Lewis doesn't really play, and I wouldn't be surprised if Willie Green really likes Cam.

It's just a matter of what you believe (whether he is done or not) and the chances you are willing to take. I'd go for Lewis or Hayes first, but I'd consider it.

I don’t see it for Hayes or Lewis to be honest. Rubio maybe.

Ricky Rubio may be done as an NBA player.
But his time as an NBA legend is just beginning.

And his time as a BAE will never end, am I right?

I wish we would have gone with Cory Joseph over Damion Lee.

Yeah, another vet PG would've been nice as Lee is completely unnecessary.

Very good chance he’s totally washed. He doesn’t seem to have recovered from his late-career ACL injury. He was brutal last season.
That’s very sad to hear. He was a lot of fun when he was here. I’d like the idea of getting him back, but if he’s no longer the same guy… I guess it wouldn’t help.

Yes I get that both of those teams may want to move those players. What I don’t see is them moving on from these younger players while attaching a pick to get Payne.
