The Suns travel to New Orleans to play the Pelicans Friday night. Both teams are 8-3 in their last 11 games and looking to move up in the Western Conference standings. The Suns defense is going to have to be on point as the Pelicans have been on fire from three as of late. Look out for rookie Jordan Hawkins.

Not My Favorite Player™ torched one of his other former teams when he returned to Houston. Would be nice to see him do that again tonight.

It would be amazing to win this game and advance on another team just ahead of us in the standings. I'm a bit scared, though. Pels are big and strong and have kind of found themselves and hit their stride this season. They seem like a bad matchup for us with their strength and physicality. And this feels like one of those games where we will inexplicably leave their best 3-point shooters wide open all night and they'll cook us. Hope I'm wrong.

Nice ball movement on offense so far. They're actually passing it, setting screens.

So far this game is not what I would call a defensive showcase.

Because he signed an offer sheet 400 years ago.

Gordon was traded to the then-Hornets in December of 2011 as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers, and played in just nine games in his first season in New Orleans. He signed a four-year, $58 million offer sheet with the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2012, and very publicly stated that he didn't want New Orleans to match it. They ultimately retained him, and he appeared in 42 games this season as he continued to struggle with a knee injury.

He did lead the Hornets last season with 17.0 points a game, but that came on 40.2% shooting and was down from 22.0 points a game on 45.0% shooting over the previous two seasons.

Gordon's health and contract may make it difficult for the Pelicans to move him for equal value. However, even if they are unable to find a buyer, they figure to have as much as $16 million in cap space this summer.
Pels fans have a hard time with breakups. For example, "Fuck Chris Paul".

Anyone catch Booker doing the "challenge" sign to the Pels bench after he was fouled? That's some 4D chess.
