Game Day: Suns (47-33) @ Kings (45-35), Fri 4/12/24

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:30 pm AZ (7:30 pm PT / 10:30 pm ET)
Place: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
TV: AZ Family 3TV/NBATV

The Kings lost at home to the Pelicans last night. The Kings and Suns have that in common in recent days. This game has huge playoff implications. The Suns chances of avoiding the play-in tournament are not great. And if they do play in the play-in tournament, they could be playing any one of the Kings, Warriors, or Lakers in their first game. I think we’d all agree we’d prefer to play the Kings out of those teams.

The only way to play the Kings would probably be to lose to them tonight. If we win we will knock them into the 9-10 bracket.

According to the standings, we are in the #7 slot and a full game behind the Pelicans. We're 2 games up on the #8 Kings.

Pels beat the Kings last night, so are they pretty much locked in for #6? If they lose one more game and we win out, we'll be tied, right? Do we have the tie-breaker with the Pels?

I basically want whatever outcome will cause us to play the Wolves in Round 1, lol.

We have the tiebreaker…I just made a post in the news thread that outlines our paths to playing the Wolves. I’d say it’s our most likely opponent at this point…unless we slip up in the play-in…then it’s Denver or lottery balls.

Here we go lottery balls, here we go!
Jones and Vogel out, Lue or Lee in, draft Grant Nelson or Tyler Kolek.

So, do we throw it tonight? I guess we can't complain if they don't give it their all?

I'd prefer lottery balls than losing in the first round. If we win at least two rounds (not including play-in), then I won't complain.

Same, an early burnout just extends this miserable season. Not really interested in that.

Nah, 6 is still very reachable. You gotta win tonight

“Very”? If we beat both SAC and MIN, and NOP drops to LAL or GSW, it could happen. It’s a long shot at best. Still, you have to try as long as there’s a chance.

I think it’s very likely New Orleans slips up in one of these games…now do the suns take advantage? That’s a fair question, but we’ve played well against both Sacramento and Minny this year. I will not be surprised at all if we end up 6th…in fact I do think it’s more likely than New Orleans at 6

Seems like we start every game with a turnover. Or at least one in our first 3 possessions.

In this case we started with consecutive turnovers. It's go time!
