Several great players who were in the league at the time (most notably Michael Jordan) were not featured in NBA Jam, either because they didn't want their likeness used in the game or because they had some kind of licensing deal with some other video game company like EA.
okay then. if you are going to play the original, then LJ and gill are the best players to use because of defense, dunking, and outside shooting.

Nick Young is expected to miss 8 weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb.

That pick just keeps getting better and better.

The Lakers may legitimately be one of the 5 worst teams in the league, so we may lose out on our pick that way.

Only if Kobe is injured or possibly just "injured" after the All-Star break. I don't think he lets them sink that low even if he's a shell of his former self.

I think that is an overestimation of how much influence a 36/37-year-old Kobe will be able to have on the wins and losses. I think they'll come out of the gate weak, fall behind in the playoff race, and Kobe will start trying to get his numbers and/or get injured again.

The Lakers won't be a bottom five team. Only way we don't get the pick is if they get lucky in the lottery.

What five teams are clearly worse than the Lakers right now? Honestly.

And the odds of moving up aren't all that bad. Between the odds of the Lakers being bottom-5 and the odds of them moving up even if they aren't bottom-5, I would say the chances of them keeping their pick this year are pretty high.

76ers, Bucks, Timberwolves, Jazz, Magic

The Bucks and Timberwolves clearly have more talent, but it's young and it'll take a while to develop.

It's very possible that the Lakers drop below some of these teams, but if things really click for them they could also finish ahead of the Celtics and Kings or even the Pacers.

Forgot about the Pacers, they could be bad. Hard to replace your 2 best players.

I think the Wolves are clearly better than the Lakers right now. And I think one could make a case for the Bucks and/or Magic being better, too. I admit that all of those are pretty bad/mediocre teams, though.

They're all floating in the same toilet.

That was us two years ago. One of the low points in franchise history. And then to turn it around in one off-season is pretty fricken' amazing.
