Bledsoe, Dragic, and Thomas had 57 points on 30 shots.

I looked at the box score and noticed Kobe took about as many shots as the entire lakers front line. Granted their front line is average but so is ours. Thought they may have wanted to try and exploit that more

would the GSW lose much if they replaced klay thompson with gerald green? one they have to overpay, the other one's cheaper.

yes, he has turned himself into a poor man's reggie for one season. will he regress? unlikely at this point.

Little bonus highlights here - Bled/IT3 combined highlights from last night :

And Len was definitely the better center last night - changed about a thousand shots.

They were essentially the same last year offensively. Klay shot a touch better from 3 but Gerald is definitely more athletic. Klay has a reputation as a great defender though and Gerald does not. I haven't paid much attention to klay's D though.

Thompson is a very good defender and he can also handle the basketball. Green is not a very good defender and he doesn't handle a basketball very well.

thompson rarely handles the ball in GSW. he's basically a catch and shoot guy. and he rarely drives to the basket. green went to the free throw line more times than thompson last year.

he's an okay ball handler for a shooting guard, but the same thing can be said for green.

Thompson plays more than 35 minutes every night and doesn't give you more than a couple of assists. Almost half his shots are from three, and he basically doesn't go to the FT line. Doesn't rebound.

He is the ultimate 3D at SG, but until he proves he has more game, that's it. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being elite at a key role, and he is often Curry's bodyguard as well as the second half of the alleged best backcourt in the NBA, so there's plenty to like. Being 75% of Michael Redd on offense, but with defense, is nothing to scoff at but at the same time if you are talking about the best in the L, you want to see ability to create unless you are so proficient at everything else that your status is undeniable, but that's not the case here so in the end I still see just that 3D guy.

I disagree. Green is a lousy ball handler. I WISH he'd just catch and shoot and not try to make moves with the ball.

his ball handling and aggressiveness in attacking the basket are fine. he commits the same amount of turnovers as klay (altho klay plays slightly more minutes). my advice to gerald, which he seems to be doing lately, is not try to dunk everything.

be like mike, jump towards the basket, hang in the air, then kiss it off the glass.

Oh no. Gerald handling the ball is a TO or a bad decision in general waiting to happen. Like 'Bone said his handle is too loose, and his passing ability is extremely limited. He is an executor 100%, not a creator at all.

i'm fine with it if he's committed to driving towards the basket, as long as he doesnt overdribble (not because he's a poor ballhandler, but because of poor decisionmaking). just shoot or attack the basket.

you're right about the part where he shouldnt try to "create" (that applies to both klay and gerald).

Much complaining about the refs, but I'm very glad the first game was like that. Only a good thing for team chemistry in forming the 'us versus the world' attitude. Hornacek's post game comments about our guys deserving more respect was a nice way to cap it off.
