Game Day: Suns (11-8) @ Mavericks (15-5), Fri 12/05/14

Post by Superbone »

Time: 6:30 pm AZ (5:30 pm PT / 8:30 pm ET)
Place: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: FSAZ/NBALP

The Mavs have won five in a row and lead the league offensively at 110.2 ppg. On the other side of the ball, their defense gets a league-high 18.2 opponent turnovers per game. Bad combination for us. This is going to be a very, very tough game for us.

Go Suns!!!

The middle school team I coach opens their season tonight. Definitely was going to start a Gameday thread for them haha.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

This has the potential to be a blowout for Dallas based on the way the two teams have been playing. Dallas first game back from a long road trip though and suns well rested, they should be competitive.

Mavs 115
Suns 110

I was wrong about the Mavs. They are doing much better than I anticipated. I was sort of right that Chandler Parsons hasn't yet been worth his max contract, but the fact remains that the Mavs are playing great basketball so far this year. They're a scary team with the league's best offense.

I don't think I can really make a prediction for who will win tonight. Our Suns are capable of beating anybody (Golden State, San Antonio) or losing to anybody (Orlando, Denver). Who knows which Suns team will show up?

I agree with this to an extent, although I put a slight asterisk on the Golden State win. They were on the 2nd of a road back-to-back and were schooling us in the first half before running out of gas in the 2nd when Curry got in foul trouble and lost his shot. (Still a good comeback win though)

To state the obvious, the Suns are going to have to defend to the absolute best of their ability to have a shot in this one. I'm not optimistic but would love for the Suns to surprise

So, are we getting screwed or do we have our chances?

3 minutes into the 2nd Q and the Suns have already dropped 50 on them - up by 16, 50-34.

Suns shooting nearly 70%, but Dallas shooting over 58%.....

Wow, not bad so far. Up 59-44 and good performance out of Dragic, Bledsoe, and Morrii. Go Suns!

Ill-advised 3 by Green on the fastbreak, Eddie Johnson trying to justify that it was a good shot..
