I think it’s probably best if first round picks aren‘t kept, as that’s a big bonus for having an early pick this year, given you’d be able to keep that player for another three years (and I have pick three so maybe should shut up!!).
I hope it’s not league killing. I have a late pick.
I mean, we voted on it and only one person (me) voted to not allow first round keepers.

Am I missing something or was that question insufficient in some way?
I thought I voted for no first round pick keepers as well. I think I voted for a 3-round penalty and assumed that would make keeping players in the first 3 rounds impossible.
That was my thinking as well. I didn't think it would be possible to keep the top guys.

Here are the survey results if you couldn't otherwise see them. The majority of people voted for the "round minus 1" and "3 year max" rules.

So I would read that as you can keep someone you drafted in the second round this year in the first round next year, but can’t keep someone you drafted in the first round (as you can’t go minus one from round one). And likewise once you keep a player in round one, you are not able to keep them the following year for the same reason. Is that right?

That's not what I intended, but I'm fine with that if it's how the 4 voters were thinking when they made their choice.

I would've voted for no first round keepers too, but I think the options were not multiple choice so I picked another rule that I felt was more important, but I'd support not allowing first rounders to be kept in upcoming years... but I won't complain either way, especially with the new draft rules. I'm not against changing the rule, as long as the rule is announced prior to the draft.

Also, another point of clarification, future drafts will be snake or same order every round?

Yeah, the options were a little confusing. I didn’t think first round keepers would be possible based on what I read.

Sorry to keep asking questions... if we pick up someone from the waiver wire, can we keep them? If so, which round draft choice would we lose in the following year?

Great questions guys. This is my first go at commissioning a league like this, so thanks for being patient.

Since the most communicative people are expressing their misunderstanding of this rule, let's do this...

First round picks are not eligible to be kept.

If a player from the waiver wire is selected as a keeper they will take the place of a 7th round pick in the succeeding draft. The 7th round is the mid point of the draft, so that seems fair to me.

OK, commish. Need help already! I'm sure I just hit the red reject trade button and then it went through! I even put a comment in why it wouldn't do it. Please reverse Irving for Booker trade. Thanks!

I am so confused. (Don't say it, FF!) I thought I drafted Irving and not Booker with the first pick! If that's the case and you were fixing it, BookTheGoat, please do it again. Sorry about that! And thank you!

I'm not seeing any transactions, so everything should be fine if you don't want to make a trade.

Man, what a fail on my part. I'm sitting there early waiting for my turn and then when it's time to draft the first pick, I can't figure out how to do it! I start panicking and finally see that my pick (Irving) is next in the order. So, I don't worry about it and think he's being auto-drafted. However, I had put Book in my queue as I would have taken him with my second pick had he still have been available so it auto-drafted him from my queue! Anyway, glad we got it sorted and I really appreciate you making things right, Book! Thanks for your patience! lol

Yeah, all that time I thought I had auto-drafted Irving. I didn't even notice on my list of players that I had Booker instead of Irving. Then I saw your trade proposal and I read it backwards (probably because in my mind I had Irving). I didn't understand your message in the chat when it all went down until now as I believe you offered at the time to do that. Thanks again.

And all is right with the world since BookTheGoat should really have Booker on his roster. :) And now you know I wasn't trying to steal him from you! You were probably cursing me out at the time.

Yeah, if you don't mind, please push it through now that we've got it sorted out. This is how it would have gone down had I figured out how to make my first pick in time. :D

Okay guys just because I did this homer trade doesn’t mean I’m an idiot. So no I will not be trading you Kawhi for Demar Derozan and Andrew Wiggins lol
