Shelby Miller is a good pitcher, not surprised he's turning things around.

That said, I still wonder what Dave Stewart was thinking when he made that trade.

Uh-oh. Guess you didn't get the memo. We refer to that former front office person as D--- S------.

Let's ask Dave Stewart what he was thinking from the unemployment line...

Well, as a Braves fan (lived in Utah in 1996, found them on TBS, if the Diamondbacks had just existed when I lived in AZ....) I was overjoyed with the trade.

And then, I felt somewhat guilty. LIke you know "Why are giving up frigging Dansby Swanson and Ender Inciarte (et al) for Shelby?"

At any rate, Mike Hazen has to be better than Kevin Towers for the artist formerly known as DS.

D--- S------ was brought in by Tony La Russa, who should bear a good deal of the blame for last year's fiasco.
La Russa is still on the payroll, but nobody is quite sure what he does anymore...

Meanwhile, have you seen what Dansby Swanson is hitting right now?

The guy I miss is Inciarte. Solid at any outfield position, fast, decent contact hitter. Was the best bunter for the Snakes when he was here.

Agreed though I missed him more last year with Pollock out.

The bats went cold the last 2 games. Back at it against the Dodgers tomorrow. Would like to see us build some confidence against our division rivals.

Snakes actually outhits the Padres, but couldn't deliver with men on base. Crap.

Goldschmidt off to another slow start. Blasphemy of blasphemies: do they trade him for prospects?
Lamb can play first, Drury is better at third than at second, Owings can start at second.

Yup, he's been benched a couple times now. I think they brought him up too early (as the Braves have been wont to do for many prospects over the years), for marketing purposes going into the new stadium this year.

But, baseball is a game of adjustments, and right now, Dansby can't hit sliders.

I've also been surprised by a bit of a power stroke that he's had this year; he has a short, compact swing that occasionally seems to lend itself to pulling balls over the rightfield wall.

And yeah, easily our best OF since Andruw Jones.

They seem to have found all the runs they didn't score against San Diego ...

In one inning, nonetheless.

D'backs win 11-5 on a game ending double play. Woop.

We're now 12-7 tied for most wins with Baltimore, Washington, Colorado and Houston.

The M's have started slow, but I'd like to thank the D'Backs for Mitch Haniger. He's been outstading thus far.

Haniger came over to the DBacks as part of the Gerardo Parra trade.
In 2016, he was killing it in AA & AAA when the Snakes called him up.
I thought he might have been a good fourth outfielder, but they saw fit to trade him to Seattle.
Glad he's getting the playing time there to prove his worth.

Looks like Shelby could be done for the fucking season. UGH. Just when it looked like he could be the guy we thought we were getting when we traded for him.
