Great news! I don't console game though Xbox Game Pass for PC typically has the new releases that come to Xbox as cross platform. Does this mean, Superbone, that PC gamers like myself may be able to finally experience and play MLB The Show with The Show 21?!?!?
Did you read the end of the article? :)
On the other hand, however, it does not appear that PC users will be getting the title this year. Sony stated that MLB The Show 21 will be available for the Xbox and PlayStation family of consoles. So unless you have any of those consoles, it doesn’t look like you’ll be hitting the diamond this year.
But that's not coming from you or anyone else. Seems to be assumption from the author of the article. Please, don't break my heart man. PC gamers are important!
Those decisions are above my pay grade, man. All I can tell you is that today the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S launch dates with cross-platform play were announced.
It may hit PC then via the PC Xbox app since most of the new releases that hit Xbox One / Series X seem to land on PC. Thanks Bone!

I would be curious to see what the breakdown is in revenue between console gamers, mobile gamers, and PC gamers.
I'm sure console gamers have a much higher revenue. Much lower cost of entry for a console and ease of use. You just plug it in and turn it on. I got my neighbor to move away from consoles when he couldn't snag a PS5 and had him get a gaming PC with a 3070 GPU. He's been bugging me daily about how to set his graphic settings in games, what is GSync, why does this look funny (his resolution was set way lower than his monitor allowed), etc.,

It can be overwhelming for the uninitiated but there are far more options on PC. Not only are games typically less expensive with multiple digital storefronts (Steam, GOG, Epic), you have the ability to use a controller of your choosing (I use an Xbox Elite wireless controller), you can use a keyboard and mouse for more precision with certain games or a joystick for flight games. You also can use ultrawide 3440x1440 and even higher resolution monitors for 21:9 immersion you cannot get with a console. I have a 3440x1440 34" ultrawide curved monitor with GSync and it's amazing. Lastly, you can dial in so many graphical settings if you have a good enough PC that even a PS5 can't match the fidelity available on PC.

Of course, this all is a learning curve some folks don't want to take. Many just prefer to spend less on a console and game on their 4k TV. Which is cool. Just not how I like to do it. I prefer VR, the Switch and my gaming PC for my tastes. The market has definitely grown with PC gaming, especially since Covid, but it still doesn't compete directly with consoles.

As of February 2020 (note that PC gaming has increased since this time):

https://www.globalxetfs.com/video-game- ... %20billion.
Despite the growth in PC gaming, consoles still make up a larger portion of the gaming market. Consoles account for 30% of the 2019 global gaming market at $45.3 billion.1 PCs fall slightly behind with 24% market share or $35.3 billion.
The gap seems to be smaller than I imagined it.

Absolutely smaller than I would have guessed. But it was during the end of the current generation of consoles. I assume that number for 2021 will be much different.

While not a good indicator beyond the amount of discussion circulating on Reddit, the PC Games subreddit has 2.5 million members, PS5 subreddit has 944k members and the Xbox Series X has 412k members.

Though PC Gamers have existed for a longer period of time and aren't ushered to a new subreddit with subsequent releases like an Xbox gamer would be moving from /r/xbox to /r/xboxseriesx, if that makes sense. You also have Nintendo Switch to account for.

I do know that Steam and other PC gaming digital storefronts have said 2020 was a banner year so I'd expect the end of 2020 to show the gap even smaller than those February 2020 numbers.

I don't think the update is anything special. They're adding something that's basically trying to replace SideQuest, which I think will end up being more costly for users in the long run. The Messenger update is just fine, something that should've been implemented in the first place.

So costco is selling this for 399.99

Oculus Quest 2 All-In-One VR Headset - 256 GB with Quest 2 Carrying Case

Is that a good deal?

Well, it's only a big deal for users that don't have a PC or are intimidated to use SideQuest. I totally agree though, SideQuest is already providing this capability. It's just a streamlined process for folks.

Good point. It's a bit streamlined as well.

I'm waiting for the app sharing/family library update.

Yeah, I was going to say, that's the price I paid without the case. But I have the elite strap with battery coming which includes a case.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet but it sounds pretty cool. Like you are in the same virtual reality as the others that are miles away. That's awesome!

Might have to get my sons a headset and we could game together from across the country.

I just saw Sony announced they sold 4.5M PS5s in Q4. I don't know the breakdown of how many were disc vs digital, but if you assume 50/50 that equates to ~4.5M x $450 = $2B in Q4 console sales alone. And most people I know that want one, couldn't find on in Q4. Going to be a big year for gaming in general.

So my Quest 2 showed up today. I am hoping to get it set up and ready to go for my son to distract him/keep him busy while my daughter is hospitalized. Any suggestions on what games would be best to get started for a 12 year old boy? He spends 99% of his video game time playing Fortnite or Minecraft.
