I just can't get over this. I keep thinking about those poor children, and their families when they get the devastating news.

If only there were some kind of pattern to these shootings, something we could work on.

Typical Joe Manchin response. Let's get to 51 or 52 Dem senators so we can start completely ignoring this piece of shit.

The only thing that will happen as a result of these shootings is gun sales will go up.

Period.

And the next will be just around the corner.

If all of these senseless deaths haven't resulted in any changes, then they will never happen. People obviously value guns over the children of this country.

"Regulate books not deadly weapons"

"Pro-cell-clumps not pro-born"

These are more accurate slogans.

Seeing a lot of people on the right deriding him because he was staging this and playing politics. They say this seeing full well that Beto was standing in front of a literal stage while all those people gathered on it to read a prepared speech and play for the cameras. Really, which one was putting on a play for politics?

I think it's great what Beto did. Democrats need to show more fight, more willingness to protest and shout and get in (good, non violent) trouble. Voters respond to passion and enthusiasm. Dems have been way too passive and way too polite. Their opponents are too dangerous and evil to be treated with kindness and politeness any longer.

But the previous year was low due to Covid. 2021 was only 3rd highest in last 5 years. Fucking crazy.

As more info comes out about the shooting, it is starting to look like the two cops on the scene may have acted with cowardice if not negligence. There's a story saying that they failed to subdue the shooter and then wouldn't go in after him to try to save the kids. They just let him rampage in there for close to an hour. And then this, which indicates that they may have given children advice that directly led to their being killed.

Shades of the late Western Roman Empire, when obvious problems with obvious answers were not addressed due to problematic institutions.
