I like this Vox article criticizing Biden. I get the appeal of a moderate Dem candidate, but I think we tried that in 2016 and it didn't work. Hillary and Biden have many of the same flaws, and I don't think Biden is actually what most voters want.

Do you feel that most voters want more radical changes?

2016 was about electability. Hillary and Biden are cut from the same cloth, but Biden could've won in 2016 due to his electablity at the time. I don't think he stands a chance now tho.

I have to be honest and say I am not that excited by any of the Dem contenders. I know I will vote for whoever wins the nomination because they won’t be Trump. I liked Obama. I thought he was real and wanted to help Americans, respected our institutions and all of the people. I have this weird thing. I look at a persons eyes and for me it seems to reveal their soul and I feel I can sense whether a person is authentic or not. I felt Obama was real. I felt he was genuine. His actions to me represented honor, integrity, morals, empathy etc. I look at Trump and I see no honor, integrity, morals or empathy, just a rich self serving serial lying sexual predator ego maniac azzhole and I cannot fathom how he has dupped so many people into believing he’s a great honorable man. It boggles my mind.

Anyway, back to the Dem contenders.

Biden - A career politician who knows everything about being a politician. He would be ok. Nothing crazy like Trump. He knows the rules and the ins and outs of Washington and would be a standard Dem President, which would be a welcome relief from Trump but, I am not sure if we move ahead or “progress” with him. Same old same old. Do I trust him? Somewhat.

Booker - My gut tells me he is in it to move himself ahead. I am not sure I trust his motives.

Buttigeg - Seems a little like he is in over his head and not really sure of himself. I cannot read his eyes in my eye test.

Castro - He fails my eye test. A politician trying to get ahead in his political career. Not sure if I trust his integrity.

Harris - I like her but, she seems a little in over her head as well. Maybe in the future. She passes my eye test. Not ready for prime time.

Sanders - I go back and forth with him. He passes my eye test. I believe he wants what’s best for America and wants to help those at the bottom get a leg up, which I support but, he is real old and I am not sure about his plans.

O’Rourke - I liked him a lot at first but there is something about him that bugs me. My eye test is inconclusive on him. He talks a good game but hasn’t proven anything to me yet. Was arrested for burglary in college.

Warren - I am back and forth with her too. I like what she says sometimes. She passes my eye test but something about her is disingenuous. Her fake Indian heritage thing was weird.

Swallwell - I don’t know that much about him or his positions but, out of all of them he seems to be the most genuine to me. He passes the eye test with flying colors. I have heard Republicans talk bad about him which makes me like him even more. I have seen him on the different news stations and he comes across as a mellow sane person who cares about his country and wants to become President for the right reasons. I want to do more research on his actual positions before making a determination.

I really don’t know enough about any of the other candidates to have an opinion one way or the other.

The right-wing media will paint whoever is the Dem nominee as a radical left-wing socialist, regardless of who the nominee is. Here's conservative publication The National Review talking about Biden's run:

"That Biden is considered a moderate is a testament to how far his party has moved to the left."

"Step outside the funhouse mirror of Twitter. Biden has for his entire career been a strong, albeit not wholly consistent, supporter of every left-wing cause from higher taxes to hate-crimes laws to liberal judicial activism. Conservatives should not let themselves be fooled into thinking he is a moderate, and neither should actual moderates."

Remember when Biden stuck up for Mike Pence after a lot of hateful stuff was being said about him? Then Biden got his hands slapped behind closed doors and had to apology for calling Pence a 'decent' guy?

Giving people the benefit of the doubt isn't how it works in this world. Come on Marty, ALL Republicans are Racist, Dumb, Incestuous, Uneducated, Easily Duped, Dangerous and don't forget EVIL.

The Republicans are complicit in the near downfall of this great country that is currently ongoing. Every single one of them deserves strong rebuke. An absolutely reprehensible political party in 2019.

What do you mean? Are you saying that you think the Democrats are equally reprehensible to the Republicans currently? If so, what are some of the most reprehensible things the Democrats have done lately to make you feel that way?

There has been a great deal of partisanship before people in both parties.

You think? :D

All the politicians and the media are complicit in stoking partisanship. Control over the country is a competition. Both sides demonize the other as lower than scum because they want to win. The unfortunate side effect is that half the country thinks the other half of the country is evil and that never leads to good things for a country. I am as guilty as the rest. I detest Trump and from my vantage point he almost always picks the evil path over good.

Trump just eliminated the protections put in place by Obama after the BP oil spill. I’m sure Trump and Republicans think that will help oil companies make more money and that is a good thing. Democrats will view it as a bad thing because it places greater risks on our environment once again, which Democrats are pretty sure Republicans don’t give a s*** about.

I watched the debates last night. I didn’t even know some of the people up there. I had never seen or heard of Tulsi Gabbard before but, she impressed the hell out of me. She was my favorite of the night. Her exchange with that Ryan guy was spot on and made him look like a fool. She seemed so cool and calm and yet spoke with such conviction. She didn’t come cross as fake to me like some of them do. She speaks of her campaign as “our” campaign. She speaks of us, not herself like a lot of candidates that self pimp themselves to the point it’s obnoxious.

Today she is being crucified online. There is some story that Russia is backing her and if you support her you are a Russian troll. I find it disgusting. She served two tours in Iraq and doesn’t appear to be Russian to me. Drudge ran a story that she won the debate in a landslide sparking some outrage since Drudge is a well known anti establishment lean right site. This election is going to get dirty as hell.

The women in general did well. None of them interrupted like some of the men did obnoxiously. Warren was the clear favorite before the debate and she held her own of course along with Klobuchar and Gabbard.

The New York guy De Blasio surprised me a little but came across as an arrogant know it all.

The other half of the candidates go on tonight.

DeBlasio is a legit clown who's the worst mayor the city's had. No one can stand him or his wife and him being up there is a joke. He's seriously run the city into the ground.

I think the debates are cute and all, but I don't see Trump leaving office. He'll either win dirty or lose and not leave.

It may be worth googling Gabbard to read some of the controversy about her. Though this isn't her fault, she is being propped up by Russian bots and online trolls that are making thousands of fake posts praising her every day to try to boost her popularity. There are also organized campaigns on sites like 4chan and /r/The_Donald to try to flood online polls with praise for Gabbard. It's unclear exactly why these groups are doing this; it may be that she is seen as a divisive candidate similar to Jill Stein who might run Independent and take votes away from the eventual Dem nominee. She also has some controversial stuff in her past that many Dems dislike, such as being friendly with various middle-eastern enemies and being anti-LGBT. Myself, I don't hate her, but I am concerned about all the Russia and social media stuff. It makes me worry about her candidacy.

He’ll just say millions of illegals voted and Russia colluded with the Dems, and the whole f*** Republican Party will go along with that.

Yup. I was gonna go with China and Mexico rigged it because he's been too tough on trade and immigration and they want the weak Dems back in power. That and illegals voting.

I don’t get it. Why would Russia do that? Maybe because she is anti war and wants to get the hell out of Afghanistan, Iraq and not go into Iran. Part of me thinks this is Republicans doing it to claim the Russians are helping Dems strategy.

I did look up her past. She grew up in a conservative family and was against same sex marriages and gays. She has either conformed or has changed her mind because today she is behind the LGBT cause. I haven’t read about her cozying up to Middle Eastern countries yet. I really liked her view on Afghanistan and Iraq last night. I share that same view that we can’t eliminate the Taliban. That’s like somebody saying they need to eliminate the red necks in Texas. They are part of the fiber of Texas.

I think Russia is interested in building a base of support for "disruptive" candidates like Tulsi Gabbard and Andrew Yang. They want them to get independent and write-in votes to help in really close states. Jill Stein and the Libertarian candidate did that in 2016 which hurt Hillary Clinton.

I like Tulsi. She is my dark horse. Why is she a disruptive candidate? She has as much right to be there as anyone else. If Russia started a campaign to get Warren elected should we call her a disruptive candidate and want to get rid of her? It’s not Tusli’s fault. We just started the debates. We have time to let the pot simmer before we start worrying about who is stealing votes from who.
