^ I do think misogyny was a factor. But it's hard to quantify, so I chose to describe it as a "specific dislike for her personally." For example, I don't know that Bernie voters would balk at voting for Liz Warren, despite her being female, since she is more of a progressive. But I do think their calling her a "snake" recently was illuminating of an overall sexism in parts of Bernie's base.

So weird. Just watched Al Gore on Bill Maher’s show. It seems like he’s been out of politics forever yet he’s only 72. My mind was kind of blown.

Another guy who did one thing 'wrong' - buy an energy draining 20 bedroom mansion - and that's all the climate deniers seemed to focus on ... he really didn't need that house though :|

I have never heard about this somehow. I just checked it out. It seems Gore got a lot of flack about that from Republicans... as he should have. He had just got an award for a film on the environment that same year.

https://www.factcheck.org/2009/06/al-gores-mansion/
Tale of Two Houses

House #1
A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400 per month. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern ‘snow belt’ area. It’s in the South.
————————————————————————

House #2
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university.
This house incorporates every ‘green’ feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground.

The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.

~~~~~
HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville , Tennessee ;
It is the abode of the ‘Environmentalist’ Al Gore.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas;
It is the residence of the Ex-President of the United States, George W.
Bush.
So whose house is gentler on the environment? Yet another story you
WON’T hear on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, or read about in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Indeed, for Mr. Gore, it is truly an "Inconvenient Truth."
Bush v. Gore: 2009
The e-mail has become dated, however. The now-former president Bush has moved into a new home in Preston Hollow, Texas, that is about 8,000 square feet – double the size of his Crawford ranch.
Kreider also told us in an e-mail that the Gores have made several eco-friendly changes to their home, which is now LEED certified. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, this means that Gores’ home has earned credits in five categories: "sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality." Kreider told us:
Kreider, June 16: The Gores’ home is certified by the US Green Building Council as a Gold LEED certified home for retrofitted homes. As part of the LEED certification process, they upgraded their windows, lighting, appliances and insulation, among other items in and around the home […] The residence is powered with a geothermal system as well as 33-solar panels. The Gores also participate in the "Green PowerSwitch" program offered by their utility [company].
You can count on my dad who's been hacked by Murdoch press - well, at least pushed further to the right anyway - to have all the unbalanced, dumb a*s, single point scoring responses to anything the right opposes.
Quite sad really, not least as he's got a master's degree in Law from a good university but still can't work out that emails he receives with bright pink headlines in size 24 font and no references or footnotes aren't researched academic papers.
We are moving mom and dad and have been shredding all their GOP/Trump junk mail. Mom had mountains of it. She has the Trump coin and the Trump and Melania portrait. Lot’s of this stuff “Don’t let Pelosi and her Socialist friends destroy America!”
Man. The only way you could get me to have a portrait of Trump would be on a dartboard. He's got that BEC face.
I just learned that Mike Pence is 60 years old. I really thought he was in his 70s.
Interesting view point
That is why I would prefer he pick a governor or someone like Abrams before picking a senator. Even though Warren would be the best candidate.
If Warren or another senator wants to be the VP, they can announce it and resign soon, which would trigger a special election. The GOP governor would pick their (Republican) replacement, but this would last for only a few months until the real election when a presumably Democrat long-term replacement would be put into place. Not without risk, but in a blue state like Massachusetts, it's probably safe.
I generally like Kamala Harris, but I don't think Biden should pick her. He doesn't actually need a ton of help getting black votes, since he's still associated with Obama. And Kamala would be a better attorney general than VP; her skills as a prosecutor would be invaluable. Plus she trashed him about bussing and red-lining in the debates and generally hit below the belt. I don't think he likes her.
Klobuchar is the most likely pick IMO. Helps him secure the midwest and rust belt, and not too far apart from him ideologically. Didn't go after him too fiercely in the primary. Won't really drum up calls that he is picking a "socialist" running mate. Safe.
Yep, I'm with you on Klobuchar being the safest pick.
Klobuchar for me then.
Could you do dual VP's in Bernie and Klobuchar? I mean, whatever it takes to make sure it's a D win in November (I can't even begin to get my head around a bernie bro seriously weighing up their remaining options, like it's a tough decision, but I hear they do exist ..)
You could announce one for a cabinet position.
And just like that I see this article - it’s long but details all Biden’s issues (and there’s a lot more than I thought there were / he’s worse than I thought), makes the conclusion that voting Biden is a good tactical move but that there’s plenty of reasons why this might not happen.
