Pelosi and the Congressional Dems seem to have caved and approved a big $4.6 billion immigration and border spending bill that Trump and McConnell wanted. In theory this could provide better aid and conditions for the migrants stuck in cages at the border. But in practice the bill doesn't come with many specifics or constraints on how the money is spent, so likely the administration will just spend it on wall construction and ICE gestapo hiring.

In theory, but in reality they will just change the newspaper on the bottom of the cages more often. Maybe spray a little Febreze in there every now and then.

The Republican narrative right now is that Dems like open borders and aren’t willing to do anything about immigration. Them approving the bill would take all the wind out of that argument. It’s a chess match.

Republicans will still argue that Dems want open borders and lawlessness, even if Dems voted for every single immigration bill. It's the same principle as the fact that they will accuse the Dem nominee of wanting socialism, even if the Dems picked the most moderate candidate on the list.

True. Whoever the Dems pick is going to be labeled a Socialist who wants open borders, higher taxes and hates America.

I would say the same thing to Trump but Hell doesn’t want him back.

He doubled down on it today. When asked by interviewers about his tweets, he said, If you don't like this country, you can leave. Oof. He's everybody's racist grandpa but as President.

I don't remember Trump saying anything about leaving the US when Obama was president and I'm pretty sure he hated him then.

At Trump rally in NC, his supporters chant, "Send her back!" about Ilhan Omar. He soaks in the chant and does nothing to try to stop it or criticize it:



This is some of the most blatantly racist shit I have ever seen performed en masse. It is shameful and embarrassing. I don't know how anybody can support this clearly bigoted person in the White House any more.

President Trump on Thursday disavowed the “send her back” chant that rang throughout his North Carolina rally when he attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), as congressional Republicans sought to distance themselves from the slogan amid widespread backlash.

“I was not happy with it. I disagree with it,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

Asked why he did not stop the chants, Trump responded, “I think I did. I started speaking very quickly.”

The president did not speak up to stop the refrain. After the chants began, he paused for 14 seconds, looked around, neither smiling nor frowning, and waited for the crowd to quiet down before continuing his remarks.

Trump’s attempt to renounce the chant was an acknowledgement of the discomfort of some allies, including Republican lawmakers who said the party could suffer damage if it became a signature slogan of the president’s reelection campaign.


Obviously some Republicans had a talk with Trump about the direction he was heading and convinced him it was a a bad idea so, Trump naturally blamed his supporters for the the whole thing.

And today he un-disagrees with the chant. He calls the crowd "incredible people" and "incredible patriots." Also says of Omar, "She's lucky to be where she is, let me tell you. And the things that she has said are a disgrace to our country."

The panel affirmed the district court’s judgment holding that budgetary transfers of funds for the construction of a wall on the southern border of the United States in California and New Mexico were not authorized under the Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2019,” the ruling said.

The court concluded that “… the Executive Branch lacked independent constitutional authority to transfer the funds at issue here” and that therefore “the transfer of funds was unlawful.”

And yet it happened anyway..
