Lawyers for the Labour peer's alleged victims told the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) that there was a 'culture of deference' towards Lord Janner.

The former Leicestershire MP died in 2015 having been charged with 22 counts of historic child sexual abuse dating back decades.

TAMPA — A former mayor of a small Florida city has been arrested on child pornography possession and distribution charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said Kevin Hohn, 65, is a former mayor of Brooksville, a city north of Tampa.

Federal agents discovered more than 100 images of child pornography on his computer, including some that appeared to have been secretly taken in his home. The criminal complaint says that investigators identified his address as one that distributed child pornography images and a video.

On Friday, investigators conducted a search warrant in Hohn’s home and found more than 100 images depicting naked prepubescent and teenage girls. Some of these images appeared to have been secretly shot inside his home.

Before he was a city council member and mayor in 2014, Hohn was an Internal Revenue Service agent who investigated money laundering, public corruption and organized crime cases. A recent biography on a local newspaper says he later was a coach for an after-school golf program.

Hohn faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison if convicted.

A man accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old North Carolina girl he was chatting with online died Sunday, a day after trading gunfire with police.

William Robert Ice, 38, was sought in the disappearance of Savannah Grace Childress, who went missing from her Davidson County home on Feb. 11. After Savannah disappeared, police determined that she had been her Davidson County Schools-issued computer to talk to Ice online across multiple platforms, according to the Davidson County Police Department.

Ice, in turn, had been talking to several juveniles, who were able to help identify the Pennsylvania man.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Secret Service, the United States Marshal’s Service and the Pennsylvania State Police collaborated on the investigation and tracked Ice to Lonoke County, Arkansas.

Two Lonoke police officers spotted Ice’s car parked at a McDonald’s around 8 p.m. Saturday and approached, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Officers saw two people inside the car and instructed the driver, Ice, to step out. That’s when he pulled a gun and fired at one officer, critically injuring him.

Another officer returned fire as Ice got back into the car and sped off.

An Arkansas State Police trooper already in the area saw Ice driving off and pursued him until the suspect crashed into a snowbank.

The passenger, later identified as Savannah, jumped out of the car and fled to a trooper.

Ice was found critically injured in the driver’s seat with what the Arkansas State Police believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He died Sunday and his cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.

The injured officer, Cody Carpenter, is in stable condition at a Little Rock hospital.

Police said further investigation revealed that Ice was also wanted by Pennsylvania law enforcement authorities in connection with other child predator cases.

The Phoenix Police Department, in partnership with other Arizona authorities, on Friday announced 37 arrests in connection to human trafficking and sex crimes.

Undercover police placed ads on websites commonly sought out by suspects seeking illegal sex acts with children as part of an investigation dubbed Operation Broken Hearts.

The probe targeted "sexual predators engaged in child sex crimes and human trafficking," Phoenix police wrote in a Friday Facebook post.

Suspects "solicited and/or brokered deals for various sex acts and were subsequently arrested," police said.

Police told Fox News that the operation lasted a week and took place in early February. Because police were posing undercover, there were no live victims in the case.

Those arrested ranged from 21 to 66, according to Fox 10 Phoenix.

Also participating in the operation were the Mesa, Tempe and Chandler police departments, Homeland Security Investigations and the Attorney General's Office.

Four Northeast Florida men were among 12 arrested in a child sex sting out of Marion County, authorities said.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the 12 men talked online with who they thought were children but were actually undercover detectives. Some of them are accused of sending sexually explicit photos to the detectives.

Investigators said eight men traveled to a location in Marion County to have sex with the child they thought they had been messaging online, but when they arrived, they were actually met by law enforcement officers and arrested.

In addition, investigators said, four men transmitted harmful material to who they believed were minors.

During a news conference Monday, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods issued a stern warning to parents and also people who prey on children.

“To the would-be, vile individuals that are doing this and are seeking children in Marion County, be assured that I will find you, I will put handcuffs on you and I will put you in my jail. My deputies will spend hours hunting you down. My job is bringing people to justice, but if it was my choice, I’d bury you under the jail if I could,” Woods said. “My message to parents, I want to make something clear: You need to be fully aware of where your children are talking online. Be aware of their social media. All of these individuals, for some of them, this might be their first offense, but I promise you it’s not their first time.”

Dunte Campbell, 31, of Jacksonville, was arrested in Marion County on charges of traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child, using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Allen Vasquez, 18, of Jacksonville, was arrested on a warrant charging him with transmitting harmful material to a minor.

Lonny Blankenship, 51, of Lake City, was arrested in Marion County on charges of traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child, using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Robin Strickland, 21, of Gainesville, was arrested on a warrant charging him with using a computer to solicit a child, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony and transmitting harmful material to a minor.

I obviously do not support pedophilia and would want to see anybody performing it brought to justice. But is it newsworthy? I'm sure folks are arrested every day for all manner of crimes. We don't typically post every time somebody is murdered, or a child abducted, or a woman raped, or any number of other awful things. Why are you posting several messages about the arrests of accused pedophiles? I know this is the Epstein thread, but he is newsworthy because he was running a huge ring of selling out underaged women into sex slavery to a variety of rich and famous people.

Child trafficking and such crimes is the fastest growing international crime network that the world has ever seen. I'm not saying anyone here supports it, in any way. I think we should celebrate when these scumbags get locked up. Large groups are getting arrested more and more. North Texas Task Force Recovers 30+ Missing Children During Month-Long Operation

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dozens of children previously reported missing have been recovered in an operation led by the North Texas Trafficking Task Force (NTTTF). In all, 31 children were located.

In early February, the Homeland Security-lead NTTTF conducted a joint law-enforcement operation to locate the missing children reported through the National Crime Information Center database and law enforcement agencies.

“While this joint operation lasted approximately 30 days, HSI Dallas will continue working relentlessly to identify & recover missing children who become vulnerable to human traffickers,” said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Ryan L. Spradlin.

During the operation, NTTTF analysts and special agents discovered that six of the missing children were considered high risk of being sex trafficked, five were runaways located away from their primary residence. The remaining 20 children were returned home or address of record.

The NTTTF, with assistance from the HSI Dallas Victim Coordinator and DFW area non-government organizations, assists in rescuing trafficking victims.

Multiple organizations were a part of the multi-agency operation including: The Arlington Police Department, Colleyville Police Department, Dallas Police Department, Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Worth Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is one of the top five locations across the nation for criminal arrests for human trafficking.

'Not forgotten': 150 missing Tennessee children recovered in Operation Volunteer Strong, officials say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A coordinated effort led to the recovery of 150 missing children across Tennessee, the state's Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday.

Planning for "Operation Volunteer Strong" began in fall 2020, when 240 children were identified statewide. The operation launched on Jan. 4 with series of "two-week blitzes" in East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee. Those led to the recovery of 150 of those children, the TBI said in a news release.

At least five of the children were potential victims of human trafficking, according to the release. Cases are still open for each of them. One child was rescued during a kidnapping investigation, resulting in the arrest of a suspect.

Members of the operation spoke during a news briefing Wednesday at the TBI headquarters in Nashville.

“I hope this operation changes the course for 150 young lives and leads them to the path of opportunities every child deserves,” said Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee. “Our efforts should also serve notice to those who prey on society’s most vulnerable that these children are not forgotten. Investigations will continue and the next knock at the door could be for you.”

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Multiple federal, state, and area law enforcement agencies conducted an undercover operation targeting human trafficking in Fort Bend County.

The three day operation, dubbed Operation Cupid, resulted in the arrest of 30 individuals as well as the rescue of a juvenile who authorities said was being trafficked.

Craig Priesmeyer, assistant district attorney for the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office said the operation was targeting the demand side of sex trafficking.

“Trafficking is a two-sided problem, supply and demand, and Operation Cupid was designed to try and eliminate the profitability of commercial sex by targeting those whose sole purpose to show up for an operation like this was to purchase sex,” Priesmeyer said.

Priesmeyer said the individuals arrested were looking and seeking to buy sex from individuals.

“Don’t take it lightly, we rescued a child. We arrested 30 offenders, that’s a big thing,” said Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan. “Perpetrators should know, Fort Bend County is no longer a place where you can come easily to commit these crimes, we’re out there now, we’re looking for you, and we will arrest you.”

DALLAS-FORT WORTH (KXAN) — Thirty-one North Texas children are now safe following the month-long “Operation Missing in the Metroplex,” the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

Federal agencies partnered with Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth and Grand Prairie police departments to find the missing minors, some of whom had ties to sex trafficking.

The U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security Investigations led the operation.


“To observe law enforcement partnerships and community concerns culminate into such a successful recovery outcome is rewarding,” said Acting U.S. Marshal Quintella Downs-Bradshaw. “Victims should know they are not forgotten, there is hope and a way to return home.”

At least seven of the 31 children were girls rescued from sex trafficking. One was just 13 years old. Two others were 15, three were 16, and one was 17. At least two were found with ties to prostitution.

The other 24 children recovered are now with friends, relatives or with legal guardians and have been removed from the missing children databases.

The Department of Justice says it records more than 420,000 reports of missing children each year.

37 arrests made in Amarillo human trafficking/prostitution operation

A total of 37 arrests were made during a two-day human trafficking / prostitution enforcement operation led by Amarillo Police Department’s Special Operations Division on March 5 and 6.

According to a news release from Amarillo police, Homeland Security Investigations, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, and the Lubbock Police Department aided on this project. The operation resulted in a total of 37 arrests for charges including prostitution, promotion of prostitution, sexual assault, human trafficking, unlawfully carrying of a weapon (firearm), evading arrest, failure to identify, possession of drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants.

The release states that some investigations from this operation are still ongoing, and more arrests are expected.

"The Amarillo Police Department recognizes that human trafficking is a very real problem in Amarillo. The victims in these cases deserve to be treated like human beings and not property," the release states.

The owners of a former Christian reform school for girls in southwest Missouri are charged with more than 100 counts alleging they sexually, emotionally and physically abused girls for years.

Sixteen former residents of the Circle of Hope Girls Ranch in Cedar County say Boyd and Stephanie Householder frequently restrained them with handcuffs, whipped them with belts, taped their mouths shut and struck or punched them for minor offenses such as drinking from a spring or singing.

Boyd Householder, 71, is charged in 22 counts with having sexual contact, including sexual intercourse, with one girl who was younger than 17 at the time.

The couple pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Wednesday afternoon. A bond hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday.

Attorney General Eric Schmitt said during a news conference Wednesday that the alleged victims also said they were forced to shovel manure for hours on end, stand with their noses against a wall while handcuffed for days at a time, and were locked in rooms without beds or lights.

“There are no words that I can say here today to describe the mixture of great sadness, horror, disgust and sympathy that I feel about these reports of cruel and almost unbelievable abuse and neglect,” Schmitt said. “We intend to do everything in the power of this office to get justice for these victims.”

Schmitt said Boyd Householder also told at least seven girls the “proper way” to commit suicide, and he’s accused of forcing a girl to drink at least 220 ounces (6.5 liters) of water, run a mile until she vomited and then run again.

The Householders were charged Tuesday and are being held in the Vernon County Jail.

Boyd Householder faces 79 felony and one misdemeanor charge, including several counts of statutory rape, statutory sodomy, and abuse and neglect of a child.

Stephanie Householder, 55, was charged with 22 counts, most involving abuse or neglect of a child. Her charges do not involve sexual contact. She is also accused of restraining students and allowing her husband to have continued contact with several girls after he physically assaulted them.

“With 16 victims so far, we believe this to be one of the most widespread cases of sexual, physical and mental abuse practiced against young girls in Missouri history,” Schmitt said.

He declined to say the ages of the victims who have come forward, describing them only as girls and young women. Circle of Hope closed in August after investigators removed about two dozen girls. Many of the girls were sent to the home from out-of-state.

The charges came after an investigation by law enforcement in Cedar County and elsewhere that started when former residents of the home made allegations against the Householders on social media. Cedar County Prosecutor Ty Gaither asked Schmitt’s office to help with the investigation in mid-November.

Online court records do not name attorneys for the Householders.

The Householders told The Kansas City Star in September that the allegations were lies prompted by their estranged daughter and girls who have not been successful in life after leaving the ranch.

“They’re angry and they’re bitter, and they want to blame somebody,” said Stephanie Householder. “They feel like they’re victims, and they just want to take their anger out on somebody.”

The Householders’ estranged daughter, Amanda Householder, has said she was kicked out of the home when she was 17 because of disagreements with her parents. She led efforts to have Circle of Hope shut down and says she “100%” believes the allegations against her parents.

But the announcement of charges is bittersweet.

“It didn’t really hit me until I saw their mug shots,” she told The Star. “I don’t want my parents to go to jail. That’s something that I never wanted. But I’m happy they’re being held accountable.”

Schmitt said the investigation continues and urged anyone who was a victim or knows of further cases of abuse to contact his office.

Four former residents of the boarding schools have filed lawsuits alleging they were abused while they lived there. All the lawsuits were filed under the names “Jane Doe.”

Under Missouri law, faith-based boarding schools such as Circle of Hope are not subject to state oversight and are not required to be licensed. Circle of Hope described itself as a school that used the Bible to teach the girls proper behavior.

After The Star published an investigation of faith-based homes last year, Democratic Rep. Keri Ingle, of Lee’s Summit, and Republican Rep. Rudy Veit, of Wardsville, introduced identical bills that would require some regulation of these unlicensed schools.

The Missouri House Committee on Children and Families unanimously passed those measures last month and they are expected to be considered by the full House.
