As for China - their true colours are coming out. In the last few days they've exposed their economic gangster credentials on Australia, cancelling 3 huge beef contracts from my home state and overnight a large barley contract.

This is a pretty good article summarising it:

Australia seems to be in between a rock and a hard spot. Both China and the US keep threatening each other and taking it out on Australia.

Yeah - trump is aiming to force through deals at the direct expense of Australia. The Barley deal looks like it went straight to the USA.

Allies / history doesn't mean anything to this guy.

The Trump administration has reportedly declassified intelligence that accuses China of offering to put bounties on US soldiers based in Afghanistan

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... diers.html

It's unclear if any other members of Congress or President-elect Joe Biden have been briefed on the matter, but Biden does have access to the President's Daily Brief.

According to Axios, Trump is not believed to have discussed the matter with China President Xi Jinping.

If the claims are confirmed to be true, it would escalate tensions between the US and China; however, if they are confirmed untrue, questions will be raised about the motivations of the sources who reported it.

A Biden transition official told CNN that while they would not speak to the alleged intelligence reporting, nor the motivation behind "the release of what is reported to be uncorroborated information," the President-elect "has no greater concern than the safety of our service members" and will hold to account anyone who endangers Americans.

China authorises coast guard to fire on foreign vessels if needed
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-chin ... SKBN29R1ER
According to draft wording in the bill published earlier, the coast guard is allowed to use “all necessary means” to stop or prevent threats from foreign vessels.

The bill allows coast guard personnel to demolish other countries’ structures built on Chinese-claimed reefs and to board and inspect foreign vessels in waters claimed by China.

The bill also empowers the coastguard to create temporary exclusion zones “as needed” to stop other vessels and personnel from entering.

The US likes to challenge China’s sovereignty in those disputed waters by sending Navy ships through those waters. Just sayin...

The hope not. The article is about what China did, not Biden. Do you think we should stop patrolling the straight and give into China?

No, they are creating these islands so that they can claim the entire area.

It sounds like China is testing Biden's resolve

Taiwan reports large incursion by Chinese air force
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-taiw ... SKBN29S0BK
TAIPEI (Reuters) - Eight Chinese bomber planes and four fighter jets entered the southwestern corner of Taiwan’s air defence identification zone on Saturday, and Taiwan’s air force deployed missiles to “monitor” the incursion, the island’s Defence Ministry said.

Beijing has watched with growing concern increasing U.S. support for democratic Taiwan, especially during Donald Trump’s administration which left office on Wednesday.

Emily Horne, spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council, said the U.S. commitment to Taiwan was “rock-solid” after the island’s de facto ambassador in Washington, Hsiao Bi-khim, attended Biden’s swearing-in on Wednesday.
