I question the governments actions sometimes. Our government has done a lot of evil things since our beginnings. We are a government made up of it’s people and it’s people have done evil things representing our government. Killing off the Indians to make room for the new America was evil. Stealing Texas, NM, AZ and California from Mexico was evil. There are many more instances. We can say the government is evil and want to end it but it comes down to WE are the government and if we elected the people who did those things who had the blessings of their constituents most of the time.
I agree that killing off the Native Americans was evil. Killing off the Bison as a way to starve the Native Americans was evil. There were a lot of evil actions that happened over and over. As far as stealing those states from Mexico, I'm not sure it was an actual steal. There is a bit of gray in that history.

I'd rather have less corrupt government. I'd rather better people acting like civil servants, instead of thinking the citizens are their subjects. I'd rather have unelected officials removed from directing policy and government and manipulating outcomes to their own nefarious means.
Who doesn’t? Trump and his government did exactly what you are talking about imo and I don’t think you had a problem with it. Trumps government scares the crap out of me. It represents the end of America if he was allowed to continue. You as a Republican of course saw none of that. Trump was the good guy and telling the truth and everyone else was lying.
You'll have to be specific on each policy that you are talking about, and we can reasonably talk and discuss each of them. Who knows, I might agree with you on some of the specifics. To do overarching condemnation on everything, is much harder for me to agree with. If I saw none of it, we should talk about each of those things. If you think he was lying every time, it's hard to argue with that, since it's a little too vague. Give me specifics and I'll either agree or give you my reasons that I think that's not true.

The government made up of Americans who we vote for. Smaller government. Bigger government. I just want a government that works for the people and not whoever donates the most money to their elections. I don’t believe in Republicans. They have no plans for anything. Our debt? No plan, just blame Dems. Healthcare? No plan, just blame Dems. Infrastructure? No plan, just blame Dems. Cold weather shut down Texas? No plan, blame Dems. Covid ravishing the world? No plan, blame Dems.
Yes, smaller government, less centralized. I have no problem criticizing Reps for not having a good plan on Healthcare. I will criticize Obamacare for causing HUGE inflation on everyone's healthcare costs. Before Obamacare, I was paying about $250 in premiums per month, and I had low deductibles with good selection of Drs. Now? I can't even afford to put my family on my plan at work. That's ridiculous. I would be paying over $15K for Health Insurance before they even attempt to pay 80% of a bill. I know Indy is going to come on here caping for healthcare attacking my information on this, but it's entirely true.
Infrastructure, there was a plan by Trump, but it was blocked. Cold weather in Texas? That's on Abbott and his BS. Covid? You got to be kidding. Did you not get a vaccine that you trust completely? Did Trump not send the NG to NYC to help with the overrun hospitals? Including hospital ships? Did they not impose travel restrictions, that were then called xenophobic? Come on, man. Be a little reasonable. BTW, you are all over the place, and each of these things are much larger subjects to themselves. Should I have cheered for the governors of NY, NJ, MI, PA, and CA for locking their states down, and forcing covid positive patients back into nursing homes of the most vulnerable? Hell No. I think they should be arrested for pushing that kind of incompetence, as that's knowingly manslaughter.

Trump has proven to me to be totally corrupt and always has been. He tried to steal his own family’s inheritance from them and was busted. He tried to extort the Ukraine to get dirt on Biden. He made the US Air Force flying to Europe stop and stay at his resorts to bolster his bottom line. He stopped the sale of the FBI’s old headquarters located right next to his property to a competing hotel chain to help his business. His charity was shut down for fraud. His University was shut down for fraud. His business is under indictment for fraud. He has dozens of sexual assault accusations against him including rape. He found out Secretary Generals are the guys who police fraud and corruption when the whistle blower in Ukraine went to one. They are also in charge of making sure Covid funds went to where they are supposed to go. He started replacing them with Trump yes men. He eliminated a whole bunch of environmental regulations that Republicans cheered but environmentalists were shocked. He made up a whole slew of lies about the election being stolen from him and accused pretty much everyone of being in on the steal and almost got his Vice President hung and the Capital was assaulted on his behalf. The list of evil Trump things goes on and on.

Health care costs or expenditures have been skyrocketing since the 1970’s. Obamacare didn’t stop the prices. It only allowed a lot more Americans to get coverage. Obamacare could have lowered prices if it was fully implemented but it wasn’t. Car insurance is only affordable because if you drive you are required to have it. If it wasn’t mandatory 3/4 of the country wouldn’t buy it and that would make car insurance skyrocket. The mandatory part of Obamacare was struct down neutering Obamacare. Whether or not Obamacare was even enacted your prices would continue to skyrocket like they have for the past fifty + years. Obamacare gave Republicans something to blame for high health care prices.

https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/cha ... nged-time/

Republicans didn’t like Obamacare and claimed they had a better plan. They never showed their plan. Trump said he had a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare with a much better and much cheaper plan that covered all Americans and the government was going to pay for it. We never saw that plan either. From my perspective Republicans are good at complaining about healthcare costs but refuse to do anything about it aside from blaming Dems. Any attempt to do anything to fix healthcare will be called Socialism by Republicans.

The cold weather in Texas? The Texas power grid has shut down 3-4 times from the cold weather in the past few decades. It wasn’t a one time deal. They refuse to spend the money to insulate their 100% isolated from the rest of the country’s power grid and the last time just blamed it on windmills in order to shift the blame to Dems.

Covid hit. Trump blew it off as Dem fake news. He praised China’s handling of it until it took off in the US. Then he started blaming China. States desperately needed masks and ventilators. Trump blamed Obama for not leaving him prepared. The Trump administration disbanded the National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense, which was set up in 2016 under President Barack Obama following the deadly Ebola outbreak in Africa. The office was designed to make sure the U.S. was prepared for the next disease outbreak and ensure it didn’t become a pandemic.

“Trump and his allies in the White House blocked media briefings and interviews with CDC officials, attempted to alter public safety guidance normally cleared by the agency and instructed agency officials to destroy evidence that might be construed as political interference.”

According to the documents, the muzzling of CDC scientists and de facto White House takeover of public-health communications began after National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases director Dr. Nancy Messonnier delivered a stark public warning on February 25, 2020 in which she said that it was inevitable that COVID-19 would spread and become disruptive in the U.S. Her prescient warning infuriated President Trump, and Messonnier told congressional investigators that she was privately reprimanded afterwards by then-Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. Former CDC deputy director Anne Schuchat told investigators that Trump officials then rushed to schedule a follow-up press briefing the next day for no other apparent reason than to refute Messonnier’s claim.

Trump Administration Strips C.D.C. of Control of Coronavirus Data
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/14/us/p ... virus.html

The agency that is supposed to be in charge of handling Covid was stripped of it’s power, not allowed to speak about Covid in public and Covid data withheld from them by Trump. Who does that?

Trump - “Governors are supposed to be doing a lot of this work, and they are doing a lot of this work,” Trump said. “The Federal government is not supposed to be out there buying vast amounts of items and then shipping. You know, we’re not a shipping clerk.”

JARED KUSHNER: "The notion of the federal stockpile was it's supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be states stockpiles that they then use."

I see a lot of posts and chatter from people saying "masks don't work/help." They're wrong, but they still say it.

Yep, unfortunately many don't know and think it's all just a big hoax. You are what you read. Especially when you lack critical thinking skills.

I was on a plane yesterday sitting across the aisle from a dude with a shirt covered in flags and stars and big "LET'S GO BRANDON" text on the front. He also only wore a mask when boarding and it said "This mask is as useless as Joe Biden." His partner just left her mask dangling from her ear the entire 4 hour flight as she was eating a small bag of nuts the entire time.

The thing is, I don't understand why the airlines aren't booting people like this off the planes. I guess they don't want to start a conflict, but, by not enforcing their COVID policies they are causing other people like me to not want to fly as much. So to get the one troublemaker's business, they're losing mine. I hope that works out for them.

It’s a dangerous time to be a flight attendant. You are forced into being the police aboard a flying plane. Many flight attendants have been assaulted trying to enforce the mask mandate and many flights have been diverted in air to deal with unruly passengers refusing to follow the rules.

Cases of Unruly Airline Passengers Are Soaring, and So Are Federal Fines
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/10/trav ... fines.html
Dozens of people face fines of up to $35,000 for assaulting and interfering with flight attendants under a zero-tolerance policy introduced by the F.A.A. this year.

Fines For Disruptive Plane Passengers, Often Over Masks, Have Reached $1 Million
https://www.npr.org/2021/08/19/10294089 ... -1-million
The Federal Aviation Administration announced in a news release Thursday that since the beginning of the year, the agency has received around 3,889 reports of passengers behaving badly, and around 2,867 — more than 70% — were related to individuals failing to comply with mask mandates and causing a disruption as a result.

I don't want flight attendants to be forced to put themselves in danger. But I do think that people like this who take their masks off should be reported to somebody and should be banned from flying in the future. They should be whisked right off the plane by muscular goons as soon as it lands.

And before any anti-masker comes in saying they have freedom or whatever, the airlines are private businesses and they have every right to set a dress code or mask rule for their private flights. Their rights to do business supercede some stupid notion of "freedom" one migh thave. If you don't do business with them on their reasonable terms, you don't have to do business with them, end of story.

I've been trying to plan a trip stateside to see family and friends for a long time now. Hopefully I can make it over there in January as it's been nearly 2.5 years since I've visited, which is way too long. My biggest worry, besides catching COVID in America, is getting caught up in some kind of short-notice restriction that disrupts my ability to return to Korea on schedule. As of now, I'd be required to self-quarantine for up to 10 days in my home upon returning. It's hard predict how that could change next week, let alone 6-8 weeks from now.

The sad part of it is that I'm not worried about international travel, but rather the domestic flights I'd be taking while over there. Reading about Indy's experience on a plane doesn't give me any comfort. I hate how something as reasonable as wearing a mask in an enclosed space like an airplane is too much to ask some people. It's just pathetic.
