I don’t think the Palestinians are happy with anything. They have no choice? I haven’t seen big protests in Gaza against Hamas at any time or anything coming close in my lifetime and I’m old. It’s not like the Palestinian people had no idea who Hamas is. Hamas was formed by a Palestinian. Aren’t Palestinians paid money by Hamas if they injure or kill an Israeli? Like a permanent bounty on any Jewish person. Isn’t killing all the Jews their stated goal? Even after all of this Hamas vows to return to killing Israeli’s until Israel is wiped off the map. From the river to the sea is the Palestinian saying which basically means no Israel. Yes Israel was condemned by the UN for war crimes. It also said Hamas along with Palestinians committed war crimes as well. I posted that before. Nobody ever remembers the part where Hamas or the Palestinians did anything wrong. Nobody remembers the 70+ years of Israel constantly under attack.

There should be an Israel and a Palestinian state. The Palestinian people have vowed to never agree to allow Israel to exist.

WWII Germany bombed the crap out of London civilians. Berlin civilian's got the crap bombed out of it in return. US firebombs Japan cities and eventually drops atomic bombs on civilian cities. Japan sent incendiary balloon bombs over the Pacific hoping to light the US on fire. War is brutal.

It’s tough seeing civilians being killed. People act like Israel just enjoys killing people. Israel is sick of this crap and decided to end it once and for all or at least make it really painful for Hamas/Palestinians to continue their endless holy war against Israel. All the Palestinians have to do is agree to live side by side in peace. The Palestinians won’t/can’t do it. Your pride is so great that you are willing to sacrifice your family just to make a point?

I realize some of you don’t place any blame on the Palestinians and consider them hostages to Hamas. I don’t see it that way. I haven’t seen any evidence the Palestinian people have resisted Hamas’s motives in any way.

Agree to live side by side with Israel or die. Accept Israel’s right to exist and this all stops.

It looks like Bibi Netanyahu's speech before Congress the other day was a bit of a shit show, with him saying crazy things about Israel/Gaza and criticizing our protestors. But also it sounds like there were some pro-Palestine / anti-Israel protestors in DC who went too far, vandalizing things and being too aggressive and violent. Bad news all around.

Here are some images of the protests that went too far. I don't condone this stuff.

Going to be hard for her to ignore it forever. Biden tried to tight walk both sides and that didn’t work. Smart Republicans will demand she take a side and then hammer her on whatever side she takes.

I don't think Kamala is ignoring this issue. Here's her statement about the protests yesterday; seems like a good response to me.

I guess she has made her stance known. How will the college kids react? They all think of Hamas as hero’s. Even the LGBT crowd likes them even though Hamas would kill them all for being gay.

While there are some number of extremists out there, I think the number of Americans who actively support Hamas is very small. Let's not conflate support for Palestine/Gaza with support for Hamas.

The facts are blurry on that. Depends on where you get your facts from of course. I suspect you are mostly right though and that the numbers are fairly small overall. The percentage does go up considerably at colleges although at the college protests, half the protesters weren’t students. A poll done asking students to prioritize the most important issues showed that the Israel/Palestinian feud was low on their priority list. Right leaning places such as the NY Post say this.

Students largely sympathize with Hamas, get most war info from TikTok: shocking survey
https://nypost.com/2024/05/11/us-news/m ... as-survey/
A majority of college students support the anti-Israel protests plaguing campuses across the country — and 15% of those surveyed who participated in one don’t believe Israel has a right to exist, a shocking new poll found.

Forty-three percent of the supporters have participated in a demonstration for Gaza themselves and more than half of them — 63% — expressed at least some sympathy for Hamas terrorists who slaughtered at least 1,200 Israelis during an Oct. 7 surprise attack, the survey found.

TikTok was the top source for information on the Israel-Hamas war among the students polled, trumping other social media outlets, news, friends and family and professors.

NY Post is a questionable source. They lean hard right and they want to paint college kids as radical leftist Hamas sympathizers. I'd be curious if any other sources could corroborate such a charge.

This one from NBC seems to paint a similar picture. This is from 11/2023.

You are definitely right about the NYPost and like usual everything is overhyped. The war has kind of taken a back seat as of late. I don’t really hear a lot about it anymore and the protests have seemed to die down as well. I suppose this is just old news now. Tictoc has moved on.

This is a war crime. Another war crime.

P.S. If your first thought when reading this is, "Good, the school was probably actually a Hamas base in disguise!", then you've got mashed potatoes for brains.
At least one small child was among the dead taken from the girls’ school in Deir al-Balah to Al Aqsa Hospital.

Civil defense workers in Gaza said thousands had been sheltering in the school, which also contained a medical site.

Associated Press journalists saw a dead toddler in an ambulance and bodies covered with blankets. Inside the school, shattered walls gaped and classrooms were in ruins. People searched for victims in rubble strewn with pillows and other signs of shelter.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement that Netanyahu’s reception from supporters in the U.S. constituted a “green light” to continue Israel’s offensive.

Very sad news. And now Israel's military responds by striking Beirut. These things tend to escalate.

They do. One side wants to kill everyone on the other side and the other side wants them to stop trying to kill them and are willing to kill every last one of the other guys to stop them from killing every last one of them it seems.

I don't know what that means, but they do seem to be killing a lot of each other. As usual, my biggest objection is when somebody attacks a civilian target like a school, hospital, church, or residential area.

It means they are going to keep killing each other until the Palestinian side agrees to stop trying to wipe Israel off the map.

I think that description places responsibility for the entire Middle Eastern conflict on one side and not on the other. I would hope that most anyone could concede that there have been very harmful and violent actions taken by all parties in the conflict and that no party is truly innocent.
