Trump 2024
Trump 2024
Let's use this thread to talk about his campaign, his attempt to re-emerge as the top voice in the GOP and the 2024 candidate for President.
Firstly, this is from his AZ rally the other night. What other explanation is there for this than plain ol' racism?

Trump 2024
Is it more of an anti-woke message?
As in, the woke brigade have taken anti-racism so far they’re now being racist towards white people?

Re: Trump 2024
From what I'm reading, I don't doubt there's an element of truth to it:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/reverse-ra ... 0-million/
https://indianexpress.com/article/expla ... r-7204703/
A couple examples don't make it fact of course, but the culture wars are real and CRT is the centrepiece of it (the principles of which I generally agree with, the dumbed down interpretation and execution of it I don't).
Re: Trump 2024
Additional info from Sam Harris:
And Jordan Peterson:
It’s primary research so as close to the coal face as possible (In2 - take note of what primary research means ).

Re: Trump 2024
The DIE (Diversity, Inclusion, Equity) video is new, so Peterson's twitter timeline is filling up:

Re: Trump 2024
Jordan Peterson? Yeah, I'll get right on clicking that.

Re: Trump 2024
I like Peterson but I don't love him as I disagree with him on some things.
But anyone writing him off outright hasn't read or listened to what he has to say - he is seriously well researched and experienced and some of his insight is nothing short of awesome.

Re: Trump 2024
It is amazing how many straight white guys are worried about cancel culture and inclusion.
Re: Trump 2024
Wow, if I'm not mistaken YouTube has just taken down his DIE video ..
Re: Trump 2024
- Peterson can't be cancelled, he's far too successful
- Inclusion on it's own isn't his problem, it's inclusion at the expense of meritocracy and where that takes society that is
Re: Trump 2024
meritocracy based on whose measuring stick? Who created the standards by which it is judged?
Re: Trump 2024
Here's one example - schools in NYC are banning exams as they're viewed as a racist construct because blacks and hispanics perform worse than whites on them:

Re: Trump 2024
we've already had this exact same discussion.
Re: Trump 2024
So we did, but the evidence is still valid.
Meritocracy is meritocracy - there's a best person for the job regardless of sex or race and trying to force the Inclusion issue has consequences, which Peterson and Harris (who's a left leaning liberal, if the mention of Peterson offends ..) both talk about.

Re: Trump 2024
There are very few jobs in the world where there really is a single "best person" for it. How your structure supports the person in the role (institutionally, financially, team-wise, personally, mentoring, etc.) all play a much bigger role in their success than the most other things. And organizations that have a diverse perspective and have workforces that look like their customer base are more successful at meeting their customer needs.3rdside wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 5:32 pmSo we did, but the evidence is still valid.

You get a bunch of CV’s, you interview the ones you like (being careful not to be racist about the name - I had a Pakistani boss once who permanently changed his name to a western name as he was convinced, probably correctly, that he was being biased against*), you hire the best one.
If it’s line-ball at that point between a white guy and a minority, I’m happy to go for the minority for Inclusion reasons.
*it’s this unconscious bias that’s the problem - and which is a key point of CRT. Unconscious Bias training exists in larger firms but neither Peterson nor Harris are fans as, in their words (approximately), it’s usually conducted bluntly and badly. So much so that firms are now cancelling the training altogether.
