Where? I don't like whispers and heresay with no source. Never heard of such a thing. Not like our legal system and lawyers do a good job at selecting juries. They are constantly selecting juries to get a verdict in their favor.

Whether or not it’s already happening, it’s inevitable that AI will eventually be used to analyze potential jurors’ behavior and demographics and estimate how likely they are to be favorable to your side. Of course, lawyers already do that the best they can. AI will simply help them do it better.

You're right, but I'm not just talking about lawyers selecting jurors from the pool. I'm talking about the entire pool being selected by AI for a certain outcome, without any sense of connection between the jurors at all, so it looks completely random. So it wouldn't matter if Perry Mason was defending the accused and Bozo was the prosecutor. It wouldn't matter who they selected pretrial, the outcome is set.

I agree that Rashida also sounds very similar to the voice. But Sam Altman of OpenAI tweeted "Her" after they launched it, and they repeatedly reached out to ScarJo to try to secure rights to her voice. So it seems more likely to me that they made the voice to sound like ScarJo.

Sounding like someone else is copyrightable? What if I am a singer who likes to do Elton John songs and I sound exactly like him? Can I be sued? CCR sold a lot of its songs to a publisher. Then the lead singer John Fogerty wrote a bunch of new songs and was sued because his songs sounded like CCR songs.

I'm no legal expert, and you're right that things that "sound kinda similar" aren't grounds for legal action. But the trouble may come because they lack plausible deniability; they can't say it's a coincidence that it sounds just like her. They asked to license her voice (and she said no), then they asked her again, then they tweeted "Her" when they released it anyway. So it's clear they had her voice in mind when creating the product.

I'm not necessarily saying they should face some huge fine or punishment. But it's a tricky area that will come up in the future with AI, where companies take a likeness of a person and just use it without permission. We should worry about what that could mean for any of us in the future. The example that comes up a lot is if a pervert could use AI to make fake images or video of a woman he likes without her permission and use it for sexual purposes, which seems like a violation of the woman's privacy. The law may need to be amended to catch up to some of these cases.

Kids already have apps that take clothes off. I posted a little while ago about some junior high kids that took pictures of girls at their school and then posted those pictures on social media after the ai took their clothes off. It’s already a problem. Mothers don’t like seeing their barely teenage daughters nude on social media.

I was going to find the article and post it. I typed “kids in junior high post ai pictures of girls” into Google and the page was filled with links to stories about kids posting ai generated nude pictures of classmates from all over the country. Too many links to post. Obviously it’s already a serious problem.
