Musk hyped a big "Twitter Files" article to be posted by former journalist Matt Taibbi. In a tweet thread, Taibbi describes some internal emails and chats sent by Twitter employees that he has been given (by Musk / his office?) that he feels show coordination with Democrats to censor articles and tweets about the Hunter Biden laptop story. The thread is long, maybe 35-40 tweets:

Based on the tweet thread, Donald Trump is now calling for revoting the 2020 election and/or throwing out its results and installing himself as President (because, why not):

IMO reading this I just don't see any "there" there. People were posting pornographic images of Hunter Biden naked without his permission, and the Biden campaign and other Democrats sent email to Twitter's Trust & Safety team to ask to have them removed. As per their standard policies, Twitter took these down. Politicians or candidates are always permitted to ask for T&S to review content for removal. I'm sure Trump's people did the same as did others. And Twitter is free to remove such content, and imo they should do so. What's the scandal here?

If anything, this document dump reveals that Musk has no hesitation about releasing private conversations between Twitter employees / former employees to the public, which seems pretty sketchy to me. He leaves most of their real names in the docs, which is likely to cause these employees to be targeted for harassment and threats. And I just don't see anybody in the released messages doing anything inappropriate. They are reviewing user reports of inappropriate revenge porn content and taking some posts down based on said reports. Musk claims this is a violation of the 1st Amendment. The 1st Amendment protects private citizens and companies from having their freedom of speech silenced by the government. Joe Biden wasn't even an elected official in 2020; he was a candidate and private citizen. How does the 1st Amendment even apply here?

Here's a good article from The Bulwark on the whole mess:

Trump is old news. His party has mostly abandoned him. All he has left is his Maga cult to grift from until they eventually catch on that he’s a con man. Musk’s antics are quickly growing old with planet earth as well.

Figured this should have its own thread. Whether you think it's a real scandal, a nothing-burger, or somewhere in between, it's got enough going on that it seems thread-worthy.
