Biden has to pull out on his own accord. That is the way it is. Kamala is next in line on the ticket. If they try to bypass her that will cause chaos.
Michelle Obama incoming
She would be a slam dunk but unfortunately isn't interested in the job.

In2, it looks like you win our bet. :-) But at this point I am quite happy to accept that loss. A loss in November, I'll be less happy with that one.
I was never worried, tbh. I believe the Dems will get trounced in November up and down the ticket overall. Not everyone will lose, but it could be quite significant.

Get ready for “ The Savior” and all the hype coming… I’m sure the polls will have whoever this nominee is to be leading Trump by double digits.

Michelle Obama seems like a swell lady. But she has no political office experience or training, and she hasn't been in the crosshairs of the media and the other party as a candidate would be. I like her a lot but don't think she is qualified to jump straight to a Presidential run. New candidates should run for a lesser office first such as a House seat or state government.

Trump is certainly ahead right now. But Kamala hasn't even begun her campaign. She hasn't even got the nomination yet. At the very minimum, she'll be the center of media attention for a while, and she'll have a chance to make her case to the public. We'll see how it goes. I think she has some strengths and some weaknesses as a candidate. She's a good speaker, but in the past she's had a bad habit of seeming phony or saying things that don't seem well thought through. I think she's seemed strong lately, so I hold out some hope that she has learned some lessons from her rough 2020 Presidential primary campaign. We shall see.

I'm hoping if the Dems do some kind of "blast primary" process, that she's the nominee who comes out, and that it isn't a bloodbath that ends up hurting her and the other candidates. I hope she is the nominee and picks wisely for VP, a partner who can solidify her ticket and reassure voters that the Dem ticket is the sensible one.

Very interesting few weeks coming up.

Here's a question for the group, will Trump agree to a debate with her? I think and hope she would wipe the floor with him.

If he refuses, then Kamala can paint him as a coward.

I want a Harris-Shapiro ticket. Will be interesting to see how the swing states change. Apparently, switching to Kamala helps in PA but hurts in MI. Does it put NC back in play?

My wild guess is that yes, he'd debate her, for two reasons: (1) He is riding high right now, feeling very confident, and basically obliterated his last opponent in the last debate, so why not do so again? (2) He'd be criticized as weak or cowardly if he declined, and he doesn't want that.

You think Kamala would beat Trump in a debate; I generally agree, though, I don't want to underestimate the ability of Kamala to faceplant or own-goal and mess up in such a high-profile moment. Kamala's debating and speechmaking were also considered strengths in 2020 in the primary, and she basically stunk it up in those. She came off as not really having clear policy priorities and kind of just saying empty words that didn't make sense. She's a good public speaker but I worry about her in such an unscripted and antagonist / competitive moment. I still think she should debate him, and if she can't hold her own she doesn't deserve to win.

Shapiro is a good pick in the sense that he's an accomplished partner from a crucial swing state. But I've seen some leftists saying they don't want him because he's Jewish and an open defender of the recent Israeli actions in Gaza, and it'll remind voters of the Israel / Gaza issue, which otherwise Kamala can kind of steer clear of and not be attached to Biden's various failures there. I don't necessarily agree, but it's something I've heard more than once.

An initial line of attack I'm seeing against Kamala is, "she knew Biden was deteriorated for months or years, and she is complicit in covering it up." That's an interesting angle. Curious how she will respond to that charge.

She’ll probably just continue to cover it up and deny it was a problem, that Biden was mentally fine.

I don't see that as an issue at all. His decline was rapid since his State of the Union address.

Come on, man. He's been declining and compromised for a long time, years even. Dems have been gaslighting on this subject forever and trying to hide and lie about it. It was obvious to almost everyone not a Dem.
