Ayton's got a lot of work to do. The color commentator spent the whole game saying what he needs to learn.

He's going to have to learn. He could get by on size and athleticism alone in college. Not true in the NBA.

Heh. We're on the same wavelength.UglyTruth wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:37 pm^this. In college he was always bigger and more athletic than everyone so he never worried about establishing position but NBA is a whole different league.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:33 pmAyton has got to fight harder to get the ball. He’s too loose in the post just allows his man to keep getting around to the ball

Even still Ayton had 21 & 12. Probably could have had 30+.

Around the internet its funny to see people praising Giles but Ayton somehow played poorly.
Jones and Vogel gotta go.

No one expects anything out of Giles, so it's easy to praise him.TheOriginalOriginal wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 8:15 pmAround the internet its funny to see people praising Giles but Ayton somehow played poorly.

They are very inexperienced, but Ayton isn't going to go up against many players who can match his size and athleticism as well as Giles and Bagley. 21/12 on 11 shots was very nice. You'd like to see him be more aggressive at times, but he didn't force anything and made that right pass almost every time.

Split, he is far from a finished product. He's got a long way to go. If he gets there, he'll be dominant.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 8:44 pmThey are very inexperienced, but Ayton isn't going to go up against many players who can match his size and athleticism as well as Giles and Bagley. 21/12 on 11 shots was very nice. I agree, Ive been happy with what we've seen from Ayton. He needs to get in game shape and I'd like to see him abuse some people in the post, but there's been a lot to like. His passing is going to be real nice and I haven't really seen any of the defensive concerns people had. He's been solid defensively.Superbone wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 8:49 pmSplit, he is far from a finished product. He's got a long way to go. The biggest issues I've seen so far are defensive/rebounding positioning and aggression. I have little doubt that he'll learn them though.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 9:10 pmI agree, Ive been happy with what we've seen from Ayton. Thread looks about as expected with regards to my boy Josh. He disappointed but I gonna be a stubborn one sticking by him the same way I did last season.
Greenberg player comps might be a lil puzzling at times but he was pretty spot on with what Ayton needs to focus on and that's all part of being a rook. Funny enough...... - rim runs, hard dives to the basket and establishing position on the block is actually stuff Tyson will be perfect to help him with. Tyson and his ole legs are terrible now in PnR defense and getting up to block shots but I think Ayton will still benefit from going against him 1v1 in practice

How many games before we get concerned about him not backing down Summer League talent? Currently it looks like his post game is a year or two away. Maybe that all changes next game. We just have a couple of turn around jumpers to go by so far.
As is though he is the best center we have had in a long time.

He also made a good post entry pass, which no one seemed capable of doing at the outset of the game. The Bobster wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:01 pmCame in, gave up his body to draw a charge, then made a turnover.

I don't think there is anything for Chriss to accomplish in the summer league. He needs to just bring it consistently in the regular season, and work on his 3 ball.TheOriginalOriginal wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 6:01 pmFor the life of me I can't see why Chriss isn't out there, unless they are shopping him
Frankly, I'm even regretting Jackson being out there.
