Lebron's school

Post by Mori Chu »

Lebron James has done something really stunning to make a difference using his wealth. He has started a school in Akron, OH (the "I Promise" school), for underpriviliged kids. It's quite comprehensive; they get free food, bikes, learning materials, and the place will have nice buildings and well-paid educators and all the best treatment for the kids in general. And any kid who graduates is guaranteed a spot and tuition paid at the University of Akron. Wow. This is going to provide opportunities for generations of kids.

And of course I'm going to tell you next that our embarrassing President chose to respond to this by attacking Lebron on Twitter. I don't like to directly link to his vile tweets, but he called both Lebron and the (black) man interviewing him, Don Lemon, "dumb" and other insults. He also has called (black) Maxine Waters a "low IQ individual." Hmm, what do these three people have in common? ... Can you imagine that somebody does something so noble and your first instinct is to attack them for it? Absolutely awful.

That was a ridiculous move and totally uncalled for. It serves no purpose other than making himself look dumb.

In Trumps defense, Trump was responding to a CNN interview with Lebron in which Lebron said “Trump's trying to use sport to divide people, but he believes it brings people together.”

Lebron imo is correct that in his statement. I guess my point is Trump wasn’t responding to Lebron opening a school. He was responding to Lebrons statement. It does make Trump look petty making statements like that. That isn’t what any real President would do.

To make matters worse for Trump, A spokeswoman for Melania Trump said in a statement that James is "working to do good things" with his new school for at-risk children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, adding that the first lady is "open to visiting" the school.

“It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today,"

She has a ton more class than him. Maybe he should have her do his tweets and just step away.

I weep for the children growing up today who think Trump is a role model.

The really dumb thing is, Trump is just landing in Ohio to help campaign there for a special election. If he wants to help his party, why insult the most famous Ohioan?

I'm sure Trump's cult followers won't care. He's beyond reproach from them. The republicans will just roll their eyes and put up with it to maintain partisanship.
