Around the League: Week 20 2/25-3/3
Re: Around the League: Week 20 2/25-3/3
That's fair. Maybe I was thinking about Josh Jackson when I said that about the shooting. When a guy's jumper and form are that broken, it's rare for him to find a way to fix it.

Agreed.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 11:12 amIt's a real tragedy how bad Wiggins has turned out. He had all the potential in the world. I think if he had landed in the right organization, like the Spurs or Rockets or someplace, he would have been a star. But he seems broken and damaged now, destined to be an inefficient player who will run out of the league when his athleticism wanes.
Ultimately, I think what holds him back is that he doesn't have the drive or work ethic to be great.

DeMar Derozan for the minimum!
PG: Jordan McLaughlin, Killian Hayes, Kris Dunn, Spencer Dinwiddie, Monte Morris

Anyone interested in some Archie Goodwin highlights?
Still not sure there's an NBA player there. I think he took two jumpers in the entire video, tho they looked good. He looks like he might've gotten a little taller too and is playing slower, which would be a good thing. But those drives were kinda weak and I don't think he's getting much of that off in an NBA game.

I've seen improvement in Jackson's shot. I haven't given up on him yet.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 8:54 pmThat's fair. Maybe I was thinking about Josh Jackson when I said that about the shooting. When a guy's jumper and form are that broken, it's rare for him to find a way to fix it.

Hate to see this...hopefully it won’t be as serious as Bosh and he can keep playing.
Side note, this probably kills the Lakers chances at AD. At least this off season. Hard to see NO agreeing to move AD without a healthy Ingram coming back.

I think it's shot selection and decision-making that hurts Josh.Superbone wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 11:42 amI've seen improvement in Jackson's shot. His shot mechanics are decent enough -- he needs to shoot less and pick his spots.

I don’t ever want to see him attempt a step back 3, iso ball to midrange J. His worst enemy is his inability to understand his role on the team. He has PJ Tucker syndrome when PJ was on this team, a role player that does not want to only play within his role. They both try to be like Kobe or MJ, when they should focus more on being Horry or Pippen.
Re: Around the League: Week 20 2/25-3/3
We don’t really have the offensive weapons to allow Jackson to just be a role player. He’s one of our few ball handlers that can create his own shot opportunity. He could also benefit from a solid pg.
He’s also not the useful off the ball either though. He just needs to improve around the board. His shot selection isn’t great, but I don’t think it’s terrible as I think he’s kinda forced to create offense for us if booker isn’t in.

That’s the excuse I keep hearing. Even when he’s on the court with Ayton and Booker, he still plays the same way. I’m not buying that excuse. Smart, controlled players are that way no matter the circumstance.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 6:20 pmWe don’t really have the offensive weapons to allow Jackson to just be a role player. That’s fair, although I don’t think he plays too many minutes with the two of them. Also hard to change up style depending on who’s on the court. Something he definitely needs to learn.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 7:16 pmThat’s the excuse I keep hearing. Even when he’s on the court with Ayton and Booker, he still plays the same way. I guess we have to be happy that Sarver isn't that.

It's eerie how similar that video is to the one with Sarver.

The only players to average over 36 points in a season are Wilt (5 times), Elgin once, and Michael once. James Harden is at 36.6 (0.5 below MJ's career best in 1986-87, and the highest average in the NBA since that season).
