I really don't care about this move. I wish they would have gotten a useful piece at least, because Carter is literally just filler. But I'm not losing sleep about the second round picks or Melton.

Drafting Jackson was a massive bust. Wow.

Suns in the last decade have drafted busts at the 4th pick twice, the 5th pick, the 8th pick.

That's embarrassing.

Josh Jackson was second to last in wins produced last year.

Shot a lot. Shot poorly. Turned it over like crazy.

Do we take more salary back in this deal? Korver makes more than Jackson an Melton and Carter cancel each other out. We would still need to shed some salary to sign Rubio right?
I think I read that we free up $3.9 million with this trade.
Korver’s salary is only partly guaranteed, so we save money if we cut him.

Hmm. Well, we cleared up the cap space we need to officially sign Rubio. But boy does James Jones love giving away draft picks to get deals done. And he seems to attach no value whatsoever to second-rounders. That was always how Sarver felt about draft picks, undervaluing them and throwing them around to get trades done. I think he and Jones are like-minded in that respect.

I like a lot of the guys we have acquired (Rubio, Saric), but I worry about the overall disregard for draft assets and mismanagement of our draft picks (e.g. taking Cam Johnson).

So if anyone had told me the Suns would trade TJ Warren, Josh Jackson and four second round picks for cap space to sign Ricky Rubio I'd tell them they were crazy.

Plus, if we don't have draft picks we don't have to hire scouts.

So hiring Monty and paying Rubio are listed as some sort of organizational blunder. Thanks @BillSimmons . Apparently the rest of the league is wrong and Monty is a poor hire. Rubio, after all the other deals have been made, is on a very fair market value contract. The Athletic put out an article with facts and analytics that say we're paying Rubio a very fair contract.

I guess teams just sit on their bad picks and own up to their mistakes by running those same mistakes out, night after night. Let's also forget that this is a new regime running the organization. Let's trash the new guys for cleaning house.

The giving away of picks thing is all Jeff Bower. Look at his history. Starting to wonder how much say Jones really has atm.

Gambo mentioned this a couple weeks ago too. It was during practice not a game (January 1, 2018).

I think he was just listing everything we’ve done. Not everything is bad, but there is a lot. I think the regime change is huge as there was a huge switch in philosophy.
