Any chance we can move the time? Can we vote on that?

Okay gents, we've had 10 of 12 respond on the second survey and we're going with the results.
  • Turnovers will be removed as a category and not replaced.
  • Each team will be permitted to keep a maximum of two players from one season to the next.
  • An owner may not keep the same player for more than three consecutive seasons.
  • A kept player will consume the draft pick of their previous draft round minus one round for each season they are kept.
Keeper Example with Zion Williamson:
2019 - 4th round pick
2020 - 3rd round pick
2021 - 2nd round pick
2022 - Ineligible to be kept by the original drafting owner

NOTICE: I'm invoking a minor tweak to our keeper rule. This is intended to keep the draft a bit more interesting year to year.

Under these keeper rules, owners may not retain two players who would consume the same draft position in the immediately succeeding draft.

For example, owners cannot retain both their first and second round picks in the 2019 draft for the 2020 draft because that would result in two players consuming a first round selection in the 2020 draft.

NOTICE: Future Draft Positions

Future draft positions will be determined based on the finishing position of the prior season. Teams that miss the playoffs in the consolation bracket will be playing for the first pick in the succeeding draft. The 2020 draft order will look like this:

1st pick - 7th place finisher
2nd pick - 8th place finisher
3rd pick - 9th place finisher
4th pick - 10th place finisher
5th pick - 11th place finisher
6th pick - 12th place finisher
7th pick - 6th place finisher
8th pick - 5th place finisher
9th pick - 4th place finisher
10th pick - 3rd place finisher
11th pick - 2nd place finisher
12th pick - 1st place finisher

Let's talk draft time.

Right now we're set for 5:00pm PDT.

Shabazz has asked to push it back to 7:00pm PDT, but that might be an issue for some people. I'm good with anytime from 4:00pm PDT onward.

I'll give everyone 24 hours to state their preference and we'll try to come to an agreement.

Just to be clear though, you can't keep a first round guy, right?

No, first round picks are eligible to be kept.

I realize it doesn't exactly fit the "round minus one" keeper format, but I think the 3 year max retention rule and the rule prohibiting the ability to keep two players who would consume a pick in the same round will help maintain the quality of the draft pool.

Thanks.

The draft position stuff might change a bit depending on which keepers are selected, but the general philosophy will remain the same.

I think it’s probably best if first round picks aren‘t kept, as that’s a big bonus for having an early pick this year, given you’d be able to keep that player for another three years (and I have pick three so maybe should shut up!!).

I hope it’s not league killing. I have a late pick.

I mean, we voted on it and only one person (me) voted to not allow first round keepers.

Am I missing something or was that question insufficient in some way?

I’d prefer a little later than 5 pm. I’m a mailman and don’t have a set schedule but should be off between 430-6. I can make it work if I have to though.

I thought I voted for no first round pick keepers as well. I think I voted for a 3-round penalty and assumed that would make keeping players in the first 3 rounds impossible.
