War with Iran would be bad. War with Iran, China and Russia would be a lot worse.

Russia, China, Iran start joint naval drills in Indian Ocean
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iran ... SKBN1YV0IB
DUBAI/MOSCOW (Reuters) - Iran, China and Russia began joint naval drills on Friday in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Oman, in what Moscow said was an unprecedented exercise in naval cooperation and training.

Would our allies join us in this war? The US, China, Russia, France, Germany, EU and the UK all signed the agreement with Iran. They were all very happy with the deal. They were all very unhappy that Trump ripped up the US deal and started threatening Iran. They were unhappy that Trump enacted sanctions on Iran out of the blue just because. They were even more unhappy with Trump after he started threatening retaliation if any of those countries continued to do business with Iran. In my view Trump has brought us to this place all by himself intentionally and now we aren’t even sure if we have any allies left.

3 Americans dead in attack on Kenyan airfield manned by US/Kenyan soldiers. The Somali Al-Shabab militant/terrorist group takes credit for the attack. There are rumors of Iranian ties to Al-Shabab, but nothing official at this point.

Technically, I think NATO Article 5 still applies, despite Trump’s announcement that the US won’t honor it.

Trump threatens to slap sanctions on Iraq ‘like they’ve never seen before’
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/06/trump-t ... efore.html
“If they do ask us to leave, if we don’t do it in a very friendly basis, we will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever,” Trump said on Air Force One. “It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame.”

Trump doubles down on striking cultural sites in Iran

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump insisted Sunday that Iranian cultural sites were fair game for the U.S. military, dismissing concerns within his own administration that doing so would constitute a war crime under international law.

Iran and US tensions are at an all-time high following the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani by Washington in an airstrike. Global leaders have begun assessing the magnitude of the situation with many holding fears of World War 3 and destabilisation of the Middle East. For the first time in the history of Iran, a red flag was raised over the Holy Dome of Jamkarān Mosque symbolising a severe battle to come. The disturbing war flag reads the words: "Those who want to avenge the blood of Hussein."

Huh? Iranians want to avenge Hussein? Why doesn’t it say Suleimani?

Fox is really going to love the next Democratic President’s apology tour. This time it’s going to be real.

a. Suleimani was in country by invitation. This then takes on the bent of a political assassination...we don't do those! Modern countries don't do that! Why? Escalation.
b. Speaking of escalation...here ya go!

Yahtzee! More Trumpian failures to come...

Property insurance generally doesn’t cover acts of war. Iran should target Trump properties around the globe.

Retaliating against America is exactly what he wants. They need to retaliate against him.

True enough. And blowing up Trump hotels with innocent people inside would be just as much a war crime as what Trump did and is saying he will do.

Iran has announced that retaliation will be against military targets and in accordance with international law. Fucking Iran is behaving better than we are. How did we get to this point?

By electing a narcissistic moron that only cares about his ego, comfort, and pocketbook...and is perfectly happy to run a playbook of driving white fear and hate as a political strategy to consolidate a political base. Oh, than those that should be opposing this nonsense, like what WERE anti-Communist Republicans!?, sell their souls and worship at his cult of personality like he is some kind of retarded Messianic figure, with purported Christians of the prosperity Gospel bent driving that further by in combination worshipping the Jim Bakers of the world, now doubling down on that self same proclaimed Messianic figure...because they never understood the ideals of compassion, inclusion, acceptance, empathy that are the basis of the faith in the first damn place. Think that about covers it...

In an interview with CNN, Hossein Dehghan, a military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that Iran’s response will be military “against military sites.”
“Let me tell you one thing: Our leadership has officially announced that we have never been seeking war and we will not be seeking war,” Dehghan told CNN.
“It was America that has started the war. Therefore, they should accept appropriate reactions to their actions. The only thing that can end this period of war is for the Americans to receive a blow that is equal to the blow they have inflicted. Afterward they should not seek a new cycle,” Dehghan said in the interview with CNN.

In the interview with CNN, Dehghan called Trump’s tweet that threatened Iranian cultural sites “ridiculous and absurd.”

“[Trump] doesn’t know international law. He doesn’t recognize UN resolutions, either. Basically he is a veritable gangster and a gambler. He is no politician he has no mental stability,” Dehghan said in the CNN interview.

[Trump] doesn’t know international law.
It isn’t a matter of not knowing the law. He has been told. He just doesn’t care. He has enough control of the Republican Party, and therefore the Senate, to ensure that he will suffer no consequences for violating it.
