The mountains here in Tucson are also on fire. How many signs of the apocalypse do we need?
I came back into AZ through Tucson and my inlaws live right up against the foothills of Mt. Lemon. It is crazy how big and close those fires are. They are 1/4 mile on the "good" side of the evacuate line.
Then I get to Phoenix and see smoke circling the city (at least the East Valley) here, too.
I'm staying in Marana now with my folks, about 6-7 miles west and a bit north of where the fires are burning. We can look to the east and see the mountains ablaze and the smoke in the air.
@Indy: Hope your inlaws will be okay. They keep evacuating and warning new areas. I really want to see them get it under control soon.

my inlaws are at Oracle and Magee, so right there.
Also, that Ritz in Marana is a nice place to stay (and great rates in the summer) if you need to get out of the house.

I grew up in Tucson and went to Canyon del Oro high school, not far from there. CDO is currently being used as a safe house for people displaced by the fires.
