Wowie! 2-0

Tale of two halves. First half the Suns were DOA and making boneheaded plays and falling asleep on D.

Second half the Mavs played that role

The refs were a joke. Wooing for Doncic. Pathetic.

Ayton needs to get his head in the game. Everyone else contributed to the win

I have no idea how we won that game. So ugly. Refs were awful and we made some young boneheaded fouls too. Kudos to the bench mob for sparking the win and so happy mavs went 3 wild and missed them all
Couldn't force yourself to say something good about Carter?
Listen you’re just going to have to settle for “bench mob” okay lol

I like Boris Diaw. But DeAndre Ayton is much, much better than Boris Diaw. To call him that is to pretty severely underrate him.

His passiveness reminds people of Boris.

He was just observing that they have something in common, not that they’re the same player.

Couple of thoughts:

1) Bridges is a keeper

2) DA just doesnt have it.

3) Looking at Luka's 40, I'm wondering. Of the last ten years of drafts, how many can we say we DIDNT screw up.

I can only think of one: Booker. And they WANTED Kaminsky.
He played well in our previous bubble games and has been having a nice season overall. I don't think it's fair to jump all over a guy when he has one bad game. KP and Boban are both weird/tough matchups for Ayton, especially when the refs are calling every ticky tack foul on us. Let's see how he bounces back in our next game.

Its the lack of aggressiveness that bothers me. Especially around the rim. I just think you have it or dont. I still remember that rookie game Amare had against the T-Wolves. I want to say he had 38. It was so exciting to watch someone be so aggressive.
Some guys just see the rim and get locked and all of their focus is on destroying it. Others (DA, Boris) just lack that desire. If it’s not natural, that split second of hesitation costs you the opportunity to rise up and shit on your opponent. See the Shaq dunk on Chris Dudley. If Shaq hesitated at all, Dudley could’ve recovered, planted and rose up with him- maybe not blocking the shot but could’ve fouled and prevented the dunk. Shaq bumped, turned with the mindset that I’m about to end Dudleys career right here.
This. Reminds me of Boris.

There was a moment with about three minute left in the game where DA got an offensive rebound. Cam Johnson had blocked out Porzingis and DA had three feet of open space behind him to just turn around and dunk it. He didnt even look. He just immediately kicked it back out.
I think I remember that play. Something like this I think falls on the coaching and the offense. Ayton isn't being told he's "the guy" and isn't being made the focus of the offense, so instead looks to pass because that's what he's been told to do - to keep the ball moving. I think if he were the only offensive threat and "alpha", he might have reacted differently. Boris had a pass-first mentality, Ayton is just trying to do what he thinks the coaches want.

Ayton was within earshot, deep in a weed-induced meditation, and was promptly given a technical.

I’m not tripping on Ayton. Clearly he’s just getting back into the swing of things. We know what he’s capable of. But he hasn’t had much time to build on anything this season. We may see a couple more impressive games from him, then some poor ones. We need a full season from him- which we’ve been robbed of first by his PED sitch, then covid. It’s going to be a long off season for the suns.
I’m officially on the Cam Johnson and Bridges bandwagons.

I just wish he’d dunk the ball more often than lay it in. He’s missed out on quite a few points that would have been baskets had he just dunked the ball. He’s also gotten his shot blocked when if he had tried to dunk it, there is a good chance he would have gone to the line.

Saric has played really well the last two games - 49 Min, 9/14 FG, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 29 points
Building on his good play before the lock-down.
Eh. The Wiz game gave me some hope; I didn't see yesterday's game as more evidence he should be retained.
Agreed, I think we are looking Saric on full contract mode.

I would prefer to keep Baynes if we are going to open the wallet for one of them, at least the guy gave us full effort from day one, and on any role we asked from him. But we need a PF with the Amare mentality that Ayton lacks, to balance the passiveness on the front court. Of course, a 3pt sniper PF that also brings down the rim it’s probably out of our budget, but we can split it on a 3pt starter and a rim beast from the bench. Saric definitely shouldn’t be our starting PF, and with no killer instinct around the rim, there is no place for him as the beast bench.

It’s not really the dunking it vs laying it in. He’s a terrific finisher around the basket.

It’s seeking contact vs avoiding it. Its settling for the “middy” instead of taking a power dribble and attacking. It’s all about his mindset.

He just needs an aggressive mentality offensively. He shows it sometimes which gives me hope he can show it more consistently and often.
