Let's just hope he's not a contract year player.

You’ve got to give credit to OKC for giving us a scare for a quarter and a half while missing so many players. Paul was as tough as ever and it seemed like they couldn’t miss from three to start out.

I'd like to retain Carter, but I wouldn't spend all that much. If he leaves, it'll be a shame, but
1. We have Payne as a backup/3rd string. We also have Jerome under contract and I think it's an either/or with him and Carter.
2. There will be players available at either #10 or #15 who should represent an upgrade on a cost-controlled long term agreement.
3. There will be better players available for cheap in free agency, think MCW, Dunn, Augustin and a few others.

Got it. That's reasonable.

He should be included in any trade involving the 10th/15th pick to move up or down in the draft.

Jerome could actually substract value in a trade. Why would anyone want to pay 2M for a guy who clearly doesn't belong?

Do the Suns have to resign Jevon Carter for next year? I thought he had one more year on his rookie deal?
Re: Game Day: Suns (31-39) vs Thunder (43-26), Mon 8/10/20
Nah he's an UFA.
Jevon Carter signed a 2 year / $2,255,316 contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, including $2,255,316 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $1,127,658. In 2019-20, Carter will earn a base salary of $1,416,852, while carrying a cap hit of $1,416,852 and a dead cap value of $1,416,852.

Book from another state
I used to be Jevon Carter. Not anymore
Good reaction on this play, can't remember seeing this before

I hope our little run here will help attract some FAs in that range. But I do think it will be hard to find a better defender/bull dog at the 3rd string SG spot that also shoots +40% from 3. (Even if you assume he is playing a bit above his future expectation, and *falls* back down to 38%)Shabazz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 10:30 pmI'd like to retain Carter, but I wouldn't spend all that much. I really like Carter, and I think it might be hard to find a FA in that range that would be a significant upgrade from what he brings. I also really like the idea of trying to keep continuity with this current group high, at least at the beginning of next season. If there is a band of brothers feel to the team, I would try to add one really quality piece at PF, and try to keep most of the rest of the guys together.Indy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:11 amI hope our little run here will help attract some FAs in that range. Jerami Grant and Tyrese Haliburton is where I’m leaning. Nesmith/Vassell if haliburton isn’t there.
Re: Game Day: Suns (31-39) vs Thunder (43-26), Mon 8/10/20
Agreed all around. Not a lot of guys play as hard for every minute at Carter. It's a game changer even in spurts and he's not hitting shots. Not a main backup, not a 20mpg SG but a situational 4th/5th guard. And continuity shouldn't be discounted either. Hard to keep finding guys who know and accept whatever role it is they have. Monty's built that up this season.jonh wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:17 amI really like Carter, and I think it might be hard to find a FA in that range that would be a significant upgrade from what he brings. It’s amazing how a players stock can elevate in a short time. Carter did not receive nearly this much love throughout the season.
Re: Game Day: Suns (31-39) vs Thunder (43-26), Mon 8/10/20
Part of the reason Carter and Saric look better is that they aren't playing with Okobo or Jerome. Payne has been a HUGE upgrade, and he takes a lot of pressure off the other guys.

Payne has been great! I love his attitude.
Re: Game Day: Suns (31-39) vs Thunder (43-26), Mon 8/10/20
Watching the third stringers play in the fourth quarter yesterday was pretty painful to watch. Having a huge lead and us having a game today was the only reason they were out there.
Re: Game Day: Suns (31-39) vs Thunder (43-26), Mon 8/10/20
Jerome is so far from an NBA player right now it isn't funny (especially considering we gave him 2 year guaranteed contract).
