If I’m trading Oubre it’s for someone with a better, team oriented mentality not for someone even more Madonna than him

The more I think about it, the more I’d like to trade down in this draft. Assuming Haliburton isn’t there at 10. Would Boston do 14 and 30 for 10? Might be a lot to move up 4 spots, but if their guy drops.. Minny has 18 and 31.
Jerome/#10 for Korkmaz/#21/#34/#36
Purely from a value standpoint, this is questionable to me. I have always liked Korkmaz (I used to think of him as the turkish Rudy Fernandez) but he will be UFA after one season. Dropping 11 spots is tough. I know the seconds are not inconsequential, but still seems too light, although I could see it if Jalen Smith was available at #21, but he is climbing.

I'd like to know what CHI wants for their #4. If not stupid, this would secure Toppin or Hali. Perhaps #10, letting them dump Sato and something small going their way could get it done.

I’d be cool trading Oubre for #2 pick and grabbing Lamelo Ball.
How can you trust him? He just strikes me as immature and I worry about his professionalism. You're giving a teenager that can't shoot, has a meddling, delusional father, $10 million a year AND getting rid of Oubre in the process? That just seems reckless.
Yea it’s probably too great a risk. Professionalism and maturity matter. But damn he is a talent that would be nice to have on the roster with the team finally headed in the right direction.
I hear you. Ball's combination of height, athleticism, ball-handling, passing, and rebounding would be fantastic to build with. But none of that matters if he isn't coachable, isn't professional, and lacks maturity. And to be clear, it isn't guaranteed that he will have those issues; but I think there is enough smoke there to pass on him.

Valid concerns. A lot of good prospects can go before 21. And to be honest, I wouldn't even keep Korkmaz; his contract isn't guaranteed, so I would simply waive him to create cap space. But I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him either.

You sure you don't want to trade up for Toppin? Hali I know it's a no.

Here’s my suns draft board:

1. Obi Toppin
2. Tyrese Haliburton
3. LaMelo Ball
4. Killian Hayes
5. Aaron Nesmith
6. Tyrell Terry
7. Devin Vassell
8. RJ Hampton
9. Tyrese Maxey
10. Alexsej Pokusevski

I’ll probably change it before the draft, but where I’m at right now.

He's a stretch 5, but I don't see him as a 4. As long as the Suns get some players in both the draft and FA that improve the team best, I don't know if I care so much who they pick at this point.

Ya definitely a 5. I wouldn’t mind picking him in a trade down, but 10’s too high for me. We need to get another ball handler off the bench imo. I don’t love the free agent options.

Jones seems to like guys that stay a couple years in school and can hit the 3.

I’d rather he take Haliburton, Nesmith, or Vassell in that case.

Would you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? He's been one of the best shooters in the NBA since he's come in. He's also a good passer and ball mover, so essentially with him and Booker on the floor, you have your ball handlers and passers when the PG is on the bench.

Are you saying 10+Oubre for Kenard+7?

Hmm, would depend on who’s there. Does Detroit have a 2nd? How about 10 and Jerome for Kennard + their 2nd?

NVM..just checked and they don’t have a 2nd...they actually sent it to us and we sent it on to Sacramento somehow.

No, just 10 for Kennard.

They are both expiring, and both will be getting raises (unless the cap implodes for Kelly). The draft at least gives us salary control over our roster. I wouldn't do that deal.

It depends if I have something worked out already to better control the salary cap. If Kenard was on a rookie deal with 2-3 years left, I would totally do it.

Indeed. The team-friendly contracts of Bridges and Johnson are why we’re even considering trading Oubre. Rookie contracts are awesome if you draft the right guy.

I guess I'm trying to build the best team possible within the cap rules as my primary plan, not staying under the cap as my primary plan. Maybe we just have different goals.
