The sprinting example might not have been the best - it was more to give an example of a body being able to do something well in certain situations but not others.

A better way to say it is if Ayton has an unusually high centre of gravity from having broad shoulders, a long torso, shorter legs and a small ass then that makes him weak on the block. And it would explain why guys 6 inches shorter than him give him trouble as they just need to apply pressure in the right place to throw him off balance more easily than someone with a lower centre of gravity.

A lot of it is mental, but I also don't think he's in optimal shape. He's whatever the opposite of "explosive" is right now.

The team culture is good for Ayton, hopefully it will help him have sustained growth and success. He’s clearly not a type A gym rat but can be influenced enough. So long as he’s on the outside looking in of being a star player in a team full of gym rats, he should do pretty well. This is evidenced by the steps he takes back personality wise when he took the “water pill” and got suspended and his lackluster play in the bubble.

Is he going to be super aggressive player like Amare? No. That’s not him. That’s one I’m confident in saying but 2 points is 2 points. Whether it’s a dunk or a lay up, it’s still 2 points.
Problem is that his lack of aggression often leads to 0 points.

EDIT: Responded before I saw 'bone's post. He made the point for me.

Ayton isn’t our alpha, that’s CP and Book.
That isn't sustainable, but the Suns will have to learn that the hard way, unfortunately.

Which part? Having Book be an alpha? Or CP3? Or both?

Ayton is gonna dad dick Sarver’s wallet. Ayton is going to get paid and it’s going to be a number y’all really won’t like. Might as well start accepting that. At the end of the day, it’s not my fucking money. I don’t give a shit.
I never get this take from a fan in football or basketball. What a player gets paid matters to your team's ability to put together a championship team. I don't get how someone can't get that. If your team overpays players, you'll get a team that can't compete at a high level because they don't have the resources to acquire the necessary talent.

Depends on the team. Some teams are willing to pay 100M in taxes, and others don't want to be much above the minimum. So for Suns fans, yeah, contracts matter while bob is around. He isn't willing to pay a ton in taxes.

Even for teams that are willing to spend, if you overpay guys, you run out of the ability to add what you need.

Philly is running into that now. Houston ran into it. You just get stuck because no one wants your guys in trades and don't even have the full MLE anymore.

Sorry to respond with what most will consider negative posts in a thread for a tremendous Suns victory. Great back to back performances. And so good to see Payne continue to play at a high level.

Ha, this is the thread to do it in! You don't want to pile on in a negative thread. Nice to balance out these. ;)

Yeah, I am hoping the powers that be see that when Paul is running the show, our offense stagnates. He isn't a point-five guy. But he is a big upgrade over Ricky. Probably not 25M/year better, and we can argue all night about how we could have used the money on different combinations of guys (or drafting different guys).

Does anybody at this point think DA is ever going to be anything but a less motivated, slightly better offensive touch Clint Capela?
He's still young, and I think he can be more. He's just thinking too much every time he touches the ball, imo. Trust me, I want him to be more aggressive, dunk everything and intimidate opposing teams and players, but idk what his problem is. It's like he's afraid of dunking the ball, maybe because the rim hurts his hands when he goes hard at it? I have no clue on the cause for this.
I am willing to give him 2 more years. I really feel like big men take time to acclimate to the NBA. Regardless if the are a number 1 pick or not. He has a lot more going for him than he has going against him.

Speaking of which -- this is exactly what I saw from Zion. Massive upper body makes him a bit top heavy and wobbly. This is going to limit him -- I wonder if he should lose some of the upper body mass.

He really should. He's going to wear through his knees in 2 seasons carrying all that weight with the way he plays.
