I'm a Jazz fan, and lived in the Provo area for almost a decade--I would not characterize my friends that are Jazz fans as racist, but there have been altercations with players (such as Westbrook) that suggest the players may see Jazz fans as being more willing to throw out offensive phrases:

Avoiding pejoratives, we can confidently characterize Jazz fans as being overly vociferous …

never said that all or even most are racist. they are just known for it in the NBA, like Boston fans. maybe it is completely unfounded and racist remarks are not thrown around there towards players more than other arenas. But you hear nba players talk about it more there and boston than other places.

It's not fair to ask Ayton to be Christian Wood on offense. But yeah, Wood is a stud. Wish we had him.

I know a lot of Jazz fans as well...they can be quite annoying and more defensive about their team than most, but I don’t know any racist ones either. Of course there does seem to be evidence(altercations with players, and comments I’ve seen on Twitter to players) to show that there are some racist fans...more than other franchises? I’m not sure. I do know there is a significant amount of anti-nba feelings here. A lot of it stemming from the political stuff and the Black Lives Matter stuff that went on this summer.jonh wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 11:44 amI'm a Jazz fan, and lived in the Provo area for almost a decade--I would not characterize my friends that are Jazz fans as racist, but there have been altercations with players (such as Westbrook) that suggest the players may see Jazz fans as being more willing to throw out offensive phrases:

The discussion of Jazz fans and racism / homophobia is interesting. But since it's getting pretty explicitly political, let's move any further talk on that topic to the Politics area. Here's a thread you could use, or start a new one.

Nah, that flagrant upgrade was an awful call.
Clarkson, on the other hand, was done a favor by the ref. They could have tossed him.

You can't just let him off that easily. He may not be a good pick and roll player now but he needs to put in the work to get better at it. Right now, he and Paul don't have any chemistry but I see that changing as the season goes on and they put in the work together. I'm not giving up already and saying he is what he is at 22 years old. He's got a lot of room to grow.ShelC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 6:30 amAyton, despite the boxscore and some softness on offense, actually played a pretty good game I thought. I think he's done a good job protecting the paint and if he's not blocking shots, it feels like he's changing them just by being solid. Offense is another story as he looks completely out of sorts. Again, I don't think he's a PnR big and has trouble catching the ball on the move with enough coordination and orientation to score the way he needs to. It's almost like Shaq running PnR with Nash. Some bigs don't have the timing or footwork or hands. He's almost never ready to catch the ball or finds himself too far away from the basket or too far underneath when he catches it. He's certainly athletic and coordinated, just not in PnR situations. Gotta figure something out because he looks completely lost and almost dejected offensively. I don't think guys have quit on him by any means but they certainly are frustrated at times. I'm hoping he breaks out of it somehow or Monty schemes a way to get him some offensive to get him going touches. I'd be fine with his middy if he would just take it right away, in rhythm. Just looks like he's thinking too much and trying too hard to make the play in the paint that he's obviously not comfortable with. Take the jumper, take the fadeaway when it's there.

Ayton had a few good moves on the offensive end against the Jazz. Not all of them went in, but I was glad to see him make/take them.
