2021 NBA Draft Prospects

Post by Split T »

This isn’t really to talk about who we are hoping for. For once it feels good to not be focused on the draft prospects for our team already. I don’t know where we’ll pick and I really don’t care. But I think it’s fun to follow the new talent coming in and this years crop looks quite good. I haven’t followed as closely, for obvious reasons, but I’m excited to see a few of these guys in the nba.

Cade Cunningham looks like the favorite to go 1st. He just dropped 40 in an OT win over #7 Oklahoma. He’s a 6’8 pg putting up 20/6/4/2/1 numbers on 45/43/85 shooting splits. Turnovers are high, but that’s not always a bad thing in a young player.

Evan Mobley is a mobile 7-footer. He’s putting up 16/9/2/1/3 numbers on 59/32/70 shooting splits.

Jalen Suggs is a combo guard for Gonzaga...heard a lot of Brandon Roy comparisons...though I hear that about a lot of prospects...He’s putting up 14/6/5/2 and shooting 51/33/75 for the #1 team in the country.

Then you have the two g league guys. Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Green is at 18/4/3/2 on 50/42/79 shooting splits through 11 games in the G League bubble. He’s a hyper athletic 6’5 scoring guard.

Kuminga is a 6’8 physical freak guy who’s putting up 16/7/3/1/1 in the g league. Shooting numbers aren’t great though at 40/25/66.

For future value, right now I’d rank them:

1. Cade Cunningham
2. Jonathan Kuminga
3. Jalen Green
4. Evan Mobley
5. Jalen Suggs

The talent level in the nba is crazy and it’s only getting better.

I've pretty much only watched the NBA so far this season, but I have caught some Oregon basketball games. Chris Duarte is a guy I think will have a career in the NBA and has first round talent. I can see him being very similar to Abdel Nader early in his career.

I had to look it up because I felt like we didn't have our pick this year but it's actually 2022 that we don't have it. It might be a good thing it's next year because with the extra year of eligibility there might be more players than normal to pick from meaning some good players might fall to the 2nd round.

2. Jonathan Kuminga
This guy is really interesting. I enjoyed the interview he had with Mike Schmitz.

Fortunately for me the Pac-12 network is streamed live on YouTube for all international ISPs. I also use my family's various cable/satellite subscriptions with a VPN for other games.

Emmitt Matthews, lefty 6-7 215 SF from WVU if we're looking for some of Kelly's swag

Do you know if you can watch it via youtube with an international VPN?

Ooh, Matthews has got that Kelly Oubre vibe from the pictures! Does he do push ups?

Haven't seen many pushups in the couple of games I've watched lol. He's actually not that great, I just couldn't get over how physically similar they are.

Yes. I just tested it with my VPN set to Japan.

I've been following Scottie Barnes since he was a sophomore in HS. I love his defensive versatility and his court vision. He's going to be good one, imo. Of course, he will be out of range for the Suns though.

Who’s in that 29-30 range of the first round? That’s what we need to know ;)

Pretty sure you would have traded the 13th pick in 2015 for Monta Ellis.

Oh yeah, once my hopes were shattered and Frank the Tank aka the next Dirk was gone I would’ve thrown in a second round pick too

Anybody has a read on Chris Duarte? Any chance he falls to us? Obviously way too early to project given that there's half a season left and our place in the standings still could change significantly (hopefully not), but Duarte feels like a James Jones type of prospect.

Are you trolling? He's the first guy I mentioned in the thread.

He's certainly going to get a shot in the league, and he looks like a traditional late first round pick who would've been picked 10 spots earlier if he were 2 years younger. He reminds me a lot of Nader in that he can do a little bit of everything, and they have a similar body type and athleticism.

I like him as a prospect for the Suns because I think he can fill a role in his rookie season, which is usually the upside of drafting older players.
