Let's hope his recovery goes as expected. That looked dangerous.

I'm not sure of the benefit of that move for the Hawks. Maybe he's lost the locker room, but there are a lot of young guys and fresh FA's on that roster.
And both of their big price tag FAs have struggled.

Poor Dudley. Possible that he'll retire?

Carmelo Anthony had his flaws as a star player, but a "chucker" wasn't really one of them. At least not very often.

Wow, that is stunning. I don't think of them as similar players, but there it is in the stats. I'd still much rather have Booker, though. :-) And I'm curious what Melo's stats would look like for just the past 4-5 years; probably not so rosy.

To be fair his past 4 or 5 years are post prime years, most guys don't look rosy in that part of their careers.

Yeah, Carmelo is almost a year older than Chris Paul, and about 18 months younger than... Amare.

CJ was having a phenomenal season. What Portland can do at full strength will be interesting. Defense still gonna be their issue.

Well said. What I wonder in the what-if scenario is how Carmelo would have fared in today's NBA if he's 25 now instead of 36. If he is clearly defined as your four who can go into the post or iso, he might be an even more potent scorer than he was in those Denver/New York days. People probably pick on his lack of rebounding less, and he is probably more likely to rack up assists.

He’d shoot a lot less long 2s. Honestly prime Melo would be a fantastic scorer. Put a big on him and he’d smoke them off the dribble. Put a wing on him and he’d punish them getting to the rim.

Melo's problem was never the position he played or the offence he played in. He was just always very lazy about where he took his shots and how he played. He never payed attention to detail on either end of the court, and he settled for the first shot too often. He was/is so talented that he got away with it, but if Booker had his body he would shoot 55% for his career.

Sure, and I guess I wonder if in this age of analytics where the long 2 is so maligned and 3 pointers so celebrated that he would at least take a step back and become a 3 point threat, which would have opened up a lot of passing for himself and for his teammates, and therefore his total impact would have been greater. These are pure theoretical exercises anyway, so ... yeah.
