Sexton would be a perfect Vinnie Johnson type off the bench, but I think you are right Split, hard to do that when you've been starting your whole career and getting used to the idea of a max contract. But he doesn't seem to have made a big stink about that contract situation and locker room chemistry actually seems good there... Not sure if Dallas has assets to offer though. Their bench is actually surprisingly barren -- Ntilikina is getting rotational minutes for them.
I get what you're saying about him being optimized as a 6th man, but don't disrespect Vinnie Johnson like that. Sexton wishes he could shoot like The Microwave.

I was quite young when Vinnie Johnson played, so maybe I am talking out of my ass. But Sexton is actually a reasonably efficient shooter. His issue is that he's just a scorer. His ability to shoot and/or attack the basket never translates into opportunities for teammates even when the opposing team loads up on him. I have only watched a couple of their games, but it feels like they are running a fairly tight 3 guard rotation with Rubio and Sexland, meaning there's solid / trustworthy playmaking on the court at all times, and Mobley being an active and disruptive defender has helped clean up some of their other defensive deficiencies. Love is also not as much of a distraction this year, so things are kind of falling into place for them.

I'm also mildly high on the Kings, who banished Bagley and have given order to their lineups. Also a big fan of Off Night.

Rubio with a career high 37 points for the Cavs tonight as they beat NY in MSG. Hit his first 8 3s before missing his final one. Cavs making me feel pretty good about picking them to make the playoffs in the East. They’re 7-4 now.

I had to look it up because that is how I remember The Microwave too. But that guy shot 25% from 3 for his career, and 46% overall. His eFG was .468.

For comparison, Sexton is 38 from 3, 46 from the field, and eFG of .504.

But I also remember Vinnie as a point a minute man. He ended up being .49 points per minute.

Where as Sexton (a full-time starter) is at .61 ppm over his career.

Obviously the 80s and the 2010/2020s are very different styles, though.

Torn meniscus…we’ll see what route he goes for treatment…could be a matter of weeks if he goes the Brandon Roy route, or months if he goes the Bledsoe route.

That's a bummer. As a general matter I would never advise an athlete to "go the Brandon Roy route" regarding their knees.

Haha, well in his defense, I think his knees were already shot and he was on borrowed time, so he went with the route that would get him back on the court quickly. No point in trying to be cautious when his knees were already doomed.

As for Sexton, he’s in a contract year. Does he want to essentially miss the entire season and miss out on that contract year? Does he want to risk going a shortcut route and having more complications before he even signs his first big deal?

I’d guess he plays it conservative, preserves his knee health and gets the meniscus repaired. He was pretty good last year and I think he’s done enough to get a decent contract in the offseason. Not to mention, we’re early in the year and I’d guess he could come back late season regardless.

Ok I think we can forgive Jokic for his foul on Payne now. If anyone deserves to be laid out it’s Markieff…now just wanna see Beverley get what’s coming.

I wish he'd have kicked him in the ribs afterward.

Not the first time we've seen Jokic go from 0-100 real quick.

Ya it’s funny because he usually seems so chill. Now I’m not too upset that Markieff got laid out here, he’s a punk and his foul was pretty dirty itself on Jokic, but it being Markieff is kinda masking the fact that that was a pretty bad look for Jokic. I imagine a suspension is coming, probably a multi-game one.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Love how Kieff is only a tough guy some of the time. Writhing around in pain here.

If it isn’t clear in the photo, those are the Jokic brothers.

The Lakers are struggling but still above .500
Say what you want about Carmelo but that guy been $$ just about every night and probably instrumental for half their wins

Seeing them 3-8 instead of 6-5 would be lovely but anyways. Guy been doing his thing
