There's a reason why it's called the play-in tournament and not the playoffs.

Postseason = after the regular season. Postseason now includes the play-in and the playoffs.
The NBA Play-In Tournament is the preliminary National Basketball Association (NBA) postseason tournament. It determines the final two playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference and Western Conference and is played immediately prior to the NBA Playoffs, which is the main tournament of the postseason and regarded by the league as separate from the Play-In Tournament.

There is a reason the stats aren't recorded/don't count.

But I still am not sure I can see them gaining 4 spots in the seeding.

It's way too early to make these kinds of predictions with so much player movement on the horizon. We'll have plenty of time for predictions during the pre-season when the rosters are much more stable.

I’m not speculating past what I have seen with Ayton. He wants to be the guy but his personality and work ethic will get the better of his potential. I’m a little bitter about it. He’s probably a great person. But a frustrating nba player to root for given the roller coaster it’s been. He’s exceeded my expectations last year in the playoffs.
Good luck wherever he lands. I wonder if the comments from Utah today were hinting at wanting to compete for a SnT for Ayton.

They’re not regular season, and they’re not playoffs. I imagine that eventually they’ll make a decision to start counting them as one or the other.

They actually will be recorded in a special category of box scores in the dreams of hopeless fans who stan for DominAyton.

The next date that will be hyped up as “a big day in Deandre Ayton’s free agency” will be this Friday, July 15. The Pacers have to decide on two contract guarantees. If they keep both Stauskas and Washington then they can no longer get to max space without a trade.

Best prediction: they will push back one or both guarantee dates again, just to keep this dragging longer. :P

Even if they renounce both, they can only get to 30,065,593 according to spotrac. So they would have to cut both and still be short of the max contract offer.

Yes, but they have other players who aren't guaranteed until January 10. But they have to cut at least one of the July 15 players.

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that Ayton locked in at $30M/year has such worse trade value than Gobert at $40M and Mitchell at $30M+. Game 7 screwed us in so many ways.

Last year it took Monty texting him to make sure he was in shape for the start of the season.

Just out of frame at right is a brand new XBox Series X in the original packaging.
