Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
If I were a Knicks fan, I would not be upset that they lost out on Donovan Mitchell. Even with Mitchell the Knicks would not have been a contender in the East. Why mortgage a decade's worth of draft picks to be a middling playoff team?
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
I think the argument would be that sometimes you have to be good before you can be great. New York has spent almost 25 years trying to put another great team together and outside of maybe 1 or 2 flash in the pan seasons, hasn’t even put together a good team. They’ve won 1 playoff series this century.
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
They also want to be able to market a star. Mitchell could absolutely be that guy for them.
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
The Knicks have approached every rebuild the same and botched them. Their best chance is to be patient and truly build something and then they have the money to resign those young pieces. Probably was for the best that they didn't mortgage the future for Mitchell.

I don’t think Philly has money or exceptions, so this is probably a vet min deal. Maybe they have the BAE, but they used the MLE on Tucker. Pretty cheap signing for Harrell.

Good signing and fit IMO.

Yup. I guess he wasn’t too washed for Morey.

I watched an interesting YouTube video yesterday about Woj and how he takes such good care of his sources. He sits in stories that don’t benefit his sources and also floats fake information to try to help them out. I really don’t trust much of his news’s anymore. It helps his agenda or he doesn’t report it.

Always hated the Spurs, except for this guy:

I came to respect Ginobili by the end of his career, but I'll always remember him for bringing the theatrics to the NBA. There wasn't nearly the amount of flopping and foul baiting before his time and he was the master of it. It's a stain on his legacy in my eyes.

He was definitely the Harden/Doncic predecessor. I didn’t hate him, but his foul baiting and flopping bugged the crap out of me.

I like that the mid-season thing uses regular season games.
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
It's kind of weird that the "mid" season tournament is in December. The season isn't even close to halfway done at that point. Probably they're trying not to put it too close to All-Star weekend, but still, it's weird. Why not late January at least?
Re: Around the League News - 2022 Offseason Edition
Ya I would like it later as well. Making it the end point of the first half that leads into the all star break would make sense to me, but ya maybe they are trying to have something for people to focus on earlier in the season. Kinda breaks up the season better that way. Maybe they think players and fans will care about it more if it’s earlier. If you put it too close to the playoffs, you’re likely to get more “why should I care about this” attitudes.
