Like I said before, we've got to play tough defense from the jump.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:38 pmWins are good, but that's not gonna work enough times.

LOL, I absolutely love Bone going back through the thread and gathering up receipts from all our chicken little posts during the game. Bravo!

Lol
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Terrible decision by Kidd in retrospect.

Ha. Thanks. It's always fun to do in a game like this one with a horrible first half followed by a comeback victory.

My feelings as well. We were total trash when Book was on the bench. It’s not sustainable. The Bobster wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:39 pmThey were fortunate to pull this one out - they've got a lot of things to work on and they need some reliable offense from the bench.

Carmelo can probably still get a bucket or two but he’s not exactly the offense we’re missing. He’s more 5 jab steps and an iso jumper. Or he’ll get hot on catch and shoot Js. We need someone who can break down the D, get into the paint and create offense for the team.Wally_West wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:45 pmThere’s honestly no excuse not to sign Carmelo at this point, especially if Cam is hurt where he’s gonna miss multiple games.

Great game seeing us fight back. Even thru the first half, I never got the sense we had given up or checked out - we just weren't any good. Our bench is rough and Monty's going to have to figure out a rotation that keeps some offense out there with Lee, Okogie and Craig. We didn't have Shamet, maybe Payne gets back into a groove and Landale can give us some offense but you can't have Okogie, Lee and Craig out there at the same time. Lee can be a backend rotation guy, he knows how to play with better players and can be a junk scorer/hustle guy. He's an x-factor type and it cost the Mavs last night (something we didn't have in the playoffs). I don't think Okogie's going to be part of the rotation. Craig really needs to be limited to 10-12 minutes a game, he's not a true backup.
DA was killing them inside which helped us get back into the game. So of course, we went away from down the stretch. He had a tough time guarding Wood, who's a matchup problem regardless. But I really like the 2man game between him and Book. We need more of that.
Cam Johnson coming up with these injuries is concerning considering how much we're relying on him. He doesn't need to be Mikal, but he needs to be able to stay out on the floor.
Good on Monty for sitting CP and letting the guys roll. We have guys good enough to close out games now without relying solely on CP setting everything up. And there are definitely times when he's playing too slow and letting the defense set up, whereas Book and Payne tend to play faster and attack.
I don't think the team really exorcised any demons from last year. I think this group is too smart and mature for that but maybe the fanbase needed this win more than anything.

Yep, that’s the word I keep coming back to. It’s unsustainable. Obviously they were going to fight back in this game, but this roster is not ok.Shabazz wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 12:12 amMy feelings as well. We were total trash when Book was on the bench.
