First I've heard of KotFM. Interesting title. Will have to read up on it. SciFi is my favorite genre.ShelC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 11:46 amMovie theaters are definitely on the decline but I don't know if IJ5 is a good indicator of things. Ford is 80 and a lot of the fans are probably 30-35+. You're not getting the parents and younger viewers you would for the big Disney cartoon movies or MCU/DCU comic book movies. I think MI6 will be big, so will Barbie and Oppenheimer. After Crystal Skull, I'm not paying for IJ5. I will be seeing Oppenheimer, maybe MI6 and probably Killers of the Flower Moon in October.

Not scifi, it's based on murders of the Osage Tribe over oil in Oklahoma during the 20s. Scorsese directing and Deniro and DiCaprio starring. I read the book in about 2 days, a new trailer was released a day or two ago and looks great.
Re: TV Shows / Movies
For All Mankind is fun. Without spoiling anything I'm curious if you'll like it less or more as you progress through the seasons - especially S3.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 12:53 pmWife and I started watching For All Mankind on Apple TV. Where the Soviets landed on the moon first (alternative history Sci-Fi). It has great acting and a great script. We've been loving it. Season 1, Episode 6 at the moment.
The Bear is a great show that I strongly recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a stressful watch. Both seasons can probably be streamed in a week.

Yeah, just came back to say I researched it a bit. Having recently finally watched There Will Be Blood, it sounds like I'll have to see it.

I plan to watch both of these eventually. I don't know anything about The Bear other than it's highly regarded. Not sure if I like a stressful watch or not. Reminds me of both Uncut Gems and the final episode of S1 of Severance.Shabazz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:15 pmFor All Mankind is fun. I'm currently nearing the end of S1 of Arrested Development (love it!) and recently finished the current season of Black Mirror. One of my favorite shows and I was surprised when I saw a new season was available. It's taken a different direction this season.
Finished Picard which was excellent and the best season of the show. However, everything pales in comparison to Strange New Worlds. Will watch E3 tonight. Best Trek series since the original in my opinion.
An now I see a new season of Jack Ryan is already upon us. Will watch that and Schmigadoon S2 in the near future.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Yeah - the Bear has similarities in feel to both of those things. But it’s also got great writing, acting and some of the best character development I can remember. It’s the story of a really good chef with some demons who moves home to take over the family restaurant after his brother’s suicide.Superbone wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:35 pmI plan to watch both of these eventually. I've enjoyed For All Mankind so much more than Silo. My wife and feel kind of cringe with some of the acting in Silo and the dialogue. There are redeeming moments we've enjoyed, surely, but it's been refreshing moving to For All Mankind. We haven't itched for more Silo. Meanwhile, Sophrina goes to bed and we can't wait to get in the next FAM episode.Shabazz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:47 pmYeah - the Bear has similarities in feel to both of those things. Cool. I've been eyeing Silo. The Bear is Hulu, is that right. I'm waiting for the new season of Only Murders in the Building to start that up again. Also have to finish S2 of Reservation Dogs which I loved.Shabazz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 2:47 pmYeah - the Bear has similarities in feel to both of those things. End of Season 2, For All Mankind, it felt like I lost my best friend. I've been shook all day. Taking time to grieve before season 3. Fuck.

Season 1 through 3 are available already on AppleTV re: For All Mankind. No need to wait on the rest of S2 to finish production Kryptonic! Season 4 should air in Winter of 2023.

Between gaming, reading, and watching live sports, I really feel like I'm missing the Golden Age of TV.

I've been enjoying Suits with my wife and when that is done, I'll go back to finish Ozarks and White Lotus with my sons.
