I think they’ll utilize him. I don’t think he’ll lead them in scoring. I think that’ll be Scoot or Simons

Nuric and little guys...we better have a rabbit to pull, as our interior defense just took a decent hit...

Time to retire my Ayton quote. This will be my last post that includes it. However, it's the reason I'm not too torn up today. It gets to the heart of his deep imaginAyton versus reality.

"I play as physical as it gets. Maybe I am playing too hard." - Deandre Ayton
That quote didn't pertain to basketball, but COD

Y’all have such Hayton blinders on. He will be Portland’s leading scorer and leading rebounder this year.

The Blazers will be drafting in the lottery again if Ayton is their leading scorer.

You wanna put a bet on that? I don’t care about the rebounding, he better be the leading rebounder, he’s their center, but on the scoring?
Absolutely. They just traded arguably the number one player in franchise history for him. You really think they don’t plan on utilizing him?
There's that Jeremy black-and-white-only vision that's so endearing. They traded him because A) he demanded out; B) he tried to limit the teams he could go to, very publicly, and hurt his own trade value; C) they were able to get back future draft assets plus a current asset in Jrue who has further immediate trade value; and D) yes, they needed to be able to come up with an immediate, playable asset so that they could appease their fan base and paint a picture of a new era. Hence, Ayton.

I'm sure they hope he'll justify being part of the deal. But to imply that Ayton got traded, straight up, for the full value of a player like Lillard is just silly.

Yup…. Just waiting for KD to put it out there in a podcast pr something.

Cracks me up a guy on a message board defends this bullshit…. Even his own teammates couldn’t defend it.

Here were the trades I threw out in another thread:

Time Lord + Grant Williams (tough because he's an RFA) or Derrick White
Jarrett Allen + Okoro (don't love this one because of the fit and Ayton's salary for CLE)
Mitchell Robinson + Toppin and McBride
Capela + Bogi or Hunter and maybe Jalen Johnson
Poeltl+ would be good, but almost impossible because of his impending free agency
Gafford + Avdija and Kispert (kind of a pu pu platter)
Vucevic + Caruso (and maybe Coby White)
Myles Turner + Duarte and Nesmith (though I don't think Indy is looking to move Turner right now)
Wendell Carter Jr + Suggs or Anthony and Okeke
Mark Williams + Rozier
Zubac + Mann or Powell
Jonas V + Herb Jones
Nurkic + Thybulle and Nas Little (though I don't see Nurkic as a likely target)
Posted this in another thread in March. Can I say I called it?

It was also by far my least favorite of those ideas.

I don’t particularly enjoy Greyson Allen but I’d rather have him than Thybulle.

Nicely done! People don’t realize how much juggling you have to do to make a lot of trades work, props you guessed pretty close.

"Surprised" = he was trying to tough it out and they didn't know it would/did worsen over time. IIRC, even Ayton himself thought he would be good to go the night it happened. Nobody can judge the severity of the pain or breathing difficulties but him. Like I said before, I've had bruised ribs and it can vary a lot.

Well we can go small…like if I win you have to have a Monty Williams avatar for the entire offseason(I would obviously have to have an Ayton avatar).

My other thought was you’d not be able to discuss Ayton on the site for a certain period of time. Not sure what my punishment would be though.

Thoughts?

As for the bet itself, I think we’d need to go off PPG…There would have to be a games played minimum. We’d also have to figure out how to count say a player like Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons, or Jrue Holiday if they get traded midseason.
