let the demolition job on dragic beginJCSunsfan wrote:I am done with Dragic then, and I am not blaming McDonough. You can't build a team by coddling players. The good ones step up. Move on.carey wrote:Some of this I figured out. Some is new info totally and makes sense. I've been wondering why Zoran hasn't gone to the D-League at all.Good morning,
So my word on the meeting is that we offered to get rid of IT and asked Dragic if we gave the best offer if he would stay with Bledsoe. Dragic will not play next to Bledsoe. He wants a big market team where he is the primary ball-handling point guard.
He does not want to go to a team and will tell any teams that is not a playoff contender and where he is in his role as primary BH that he will not resign.
He specifically wants the Lakers or the Knicks. Not Houston because of the Harden/Bev factor.
The NBA seldom sees people who turn down 5 year / 100 mil deals. But we know the Lakers are likely to offer 4/80. I haven't heard about the Knicks. The dilemma is who gives up assets for him at 5/100? Not many. None, really. It's an overpay at 4/80.
The Knicks have nothing we want. The Lakers are offering crap. The Celtics if he will resign are willing to part with picks and Sullinger. But that depends on Dragic. Houston is offering Morey type deals. The Kings are sweetening but nowhere close to Cousin, so quit dreaming. The other teams can sign him in the offseason but he wants a five year deal. That's our only leverage. His bird rights.
Good chance we offload Dragic, IT, Green, and Plumlee. Zoran is gone fo sho if Dragic goes.
But we aren't trading Dragic for 2nd rounders. Lakers unwilling to give Randle and remove protection. It's a pickle. I think none of us will get what we want for Dragic. But we won't toss it down the drain, either; for nothing.
Zoran was signed for Dragic. His request. We've asked Zoran to go to the D League and he refuses utterly. We have coddled his behavior and brother for the sake of Goran. The FO was unwilling to part with Bledsoe and commit to him being the primary PG.
Re: Suns News: Week 17 2/16-2/22
he will actually sign that.carey wrote:Gambo is tweeting that he thinks the Suns should call his bluff meaning the Suns intend to offer 5/100. I can't think of anything more stupid they could do right now.

So well over half way through the season Coach is hoping the offense will just work itself out on its own? Maybe I'm reading the wrong but that just seems like an odd comment. Like the offense has nothing to do with him.Hornacek wrote:"It's obvious, with the guards, he might be unhappy with it," Hornacek said. "That's just part of it, adjusting to things. Was it ideal? No. Would it have got to where it was last year? Maybe."

what's the point of "sacrificing" if your team is a poorly run lottery team bound for mediocrity? (primarily because of the 3pg system)Shabazz wrote:A couple of things I wanted to clarify about my position, which I think looked a little too anti-Dragic last night:
- I like Goran a lot
- I think he's a really good basketball player
- I'd like the Suns to move IT and work it out with Dragic
- I think he has every right to be very frustrated with the personnel moves from this summer
- I don't think he should have emotionally let it get to the point of no return
- If every member of the Spurs, the LeBron era Heat, the current Cavs, etc. can sacrifice a little personal glory and adjust their games for the good of the team, I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder why Dragic can't do the same if he's in a successful situation (with EB, but no IT).
and wasnt there a time when the cavs were below 500 and there were rumblings that lebron (caught on tape) wanted to move back to miami?

yeah, i was wondering why they bothered to sign zoran when they are already loaded with guards. guess they never expected to resign bledsoe after drafting ennis and signing IT... oops.EDC wrote:The family stuff with Goran is interesting. Zoran had other options but he chose to come to Phoenix. He isn't great but he did seem to have other teams interested in him. The Suns probably told him he would get playing time. Then they try to send him to the D-league after having played for better teams over in Europe.
Suns need to be careful about what they promise. You go back on enough of them and people get pissed off.
None of it really matters I guess. I have a hard time backing the front office in this situation when they seem to think our offense is running well. Coaches comments make it seem like he is happy with the way the ball is being moved out on the court. We have talked about the bad offensive sets from almost day one of the season on this board.
He will be traded and it sucks but there is no going back now.

i thought he handled it well. He wasn't getting an offer he liked from the Suns. Instead of crying to the media, he just waited until he got an offer he liked and held no grudges. The anti- joe Johnson. Whether he deserves that deal or not is obviously a different story.

You don't have to be a suns insider to know that Goran had a list of teams and Goran aske dto be traded. he didnt ask for the meeting. he didnt asked to be traded. mcdo gave an ultimatum and he didnt like dragic's answer, that's why he is being peddled before the trade deadline. that trade destinations list by goran is just a suggestion, mcdo doesnt need to follow it. btw, the word "ultimatum", look that up too.Sunsfan4life wrote:You don't have to be a suns insider to know that Goran had a list of teams and Goran aske dto be traded. I wouldn't be surprised if Goran's agent caught wind of something that made him think IT wasn't going to be moved. Probably the latest promise of change that wasn't followed through on. Goran has been unhappy and his agents job is to keep him happy. So Duffy decided to go nuclear on the situation. He did a really good job of it.
Re: Suns News: Week 17 2/16-2/22
the problem with mcdo and many of his types is the mentality of "we cant let him walk away without getting anything in return".
sometimes, the best move for young mcdo is to just risk letting him walk for nothing. but mcdo is a ruthless, analytics type gm, and he is all about "asset accumulation"

McDonough's background is mostly in scouting, not analytics.

According to azCentral article written by Paul Coro
Dragic said he didn't trust the team's decision-makers, that he was not convinced his role would change and that he would not be coming back to the Suns next season.
He requested a trade be done before Thursday's deadline.

Nah, he didn't. He said one statement that the Suns were using his position against him, but even then he said he understood why. what's the problem? mcdo was planning to trade him for assets anyway. but you must be wondering, who brought up the idea first?

I just said he asked to be traded. You said he didn't. I posted an article backing me up. Theres no problem...just proving that your statement was incorrect
