Ok, get your votes in. Assume in every scenario unless noted otherwise that we waived and stretched Beal.

This is above my pay grade. I don't really care. I'm just ready to move forward without him.

I don't get it.

We're buying him out and stretching him. It's happening.

So is the question what you think we SHOULD HAVE done instead?

He's getting stretched so we get outta the aprons and move on from the failed 3 era. Complain all you want, it's a step on the right direction. All you people who wanted Sarver back here ha go, now you'll just complain Ishbia is saving money. Lol buffoonery.

Well if you notice…5 of the 8 options are after we stretch and waive him…

I did include 2 options where we don’t stretch the deal in case someone wants to be brave…and a 3rd option where something magically happens and we don’t buy him out, but nothing in this poll is me saying we won’t waive him. I absolutely think we will.

You guys don’t think it matters what we do next? I think the stretch is bad for the future of the team and they are going to try and paint it as something beneficial…they absolutely better do something with the new options they’ve been giving or it was completely just a money grab by Ishbia.

Someone go track down DarthVoitas tweet about the cap hit after stretching him, it's not a huge deal, I don't have Twitter but it's such a small amount.

I wouldn’t say it’s small…it’s gonna be 19 million a year. If you’re looking for percentage of the cap, it’s 12.3% this year, 11.5% next year…then roughly 11-9% the next 3 years, depending on where the actual number comes in at.

Ok I apologize, I didn't look over all the options. But the thread should be renamed "What should we do AFTER Beal is Stretched and Waived". He's gone, they're stretching and waiving him. Any other discussion about what we should do or should've done is beating a deadhorse.

I don't think there's anyone really of note available in FA to use any MLE money on. Brogdan is a nice name but is injury prone and will he get minutes in the backcourt? Maybe a big for depth like Boucher or Bagley. I'm not sure how I'd feel about Westbrook off the bench if we have the minutes available.

I'd like to clear out the logjam at the 2/3 by getting rid of either Royce or Grayson but not sure who's actually available. I hope we're not interesting in pursuing a guy like Kuminga in a S+T.

That's equivalent to what 13.8 this year by the time his contract ends or something like that, that's an MLE. It's not a death knell like people are making it out to be. Ishbia will spend up to the cap, he already shown that, biting the bullet and moving on is the way to go.

I’m all for biting the bullet. Just don’t stretch the contract.

Seeing as almost every poll choice has "stretch" in it, they're most likely going to stretch it. Go ahead and get your disappointment out of the way now. We know it's coming.

They aren't gonna trade it, nobody wants it, they have to stretch it. And I believe getting rid of him via stretch gets the team out of both aprons, I could be wrong. It's the simplest way forward. Would it be better just to let him expire? In financial terms yes, of you want to just call your roster as is, you sit him and deal with the players association killing you for doing so, not great for a team looking to big FA hunting in a couple of years. Its better to stretch him to get his stink off the roster and it allows you to make a lot more moves once you're under both aprons.

I never thought this much about aprons, at least until the Phoenix Suns came into my life

My bad guys…this was a fail…I also realize I meant it to be what you expect to happen, not what you would do, but I wasn’t clear…feel free to move along haha

No worries, I was just giving you a hard time. I did vote though to not stretch. But after seeing an article about the Suns being in 5th in odds to land Lebron and the Lakers being 3rd to get Beal I started wondering if the Suns and Lakers should just skip the buyout/waive dance and just trade them straight up.I know the Lakers want to get Beal on the cheap but if they have to pay Lebron to leave then it just seems it could be made much easier.
