Here's a thread for us to discuss the Conference Finals series: WCF (OKC vs SAS) and ECF (NYK vs CLE).

Game 1 of OKC/SAS is on right now. Current score is 46 - 41 Spurs on top. They have been up by 5-7 points most of the game and generally look very strong. Wemby is a nightmare matchup and just in general the Spurs players are big for their position; OKC is struggling a bit to keep up. Love to see it. I would much rather watch a Spurs title run than an OKC+refs one.

Be careful what you wish for. Spurs could win the next 10 straight. Selfishly, I want them (this time) because I make more money.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Well, no sweep for the Thunder. At least not in the way they have been.

Goodness gracious. This game has been one of the best NBA games I have seen in years. We're now in double overtime and the Spurs seem set to take the win. Wemby had an absolutely monstrous game, with 41 points, 23 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists. Down the stretch he had multiple "this is not fair" plays, like dunking straight over Chet Holmgren, blocking Chet on a later play, blocking Jalen Williams, catching a crazy alley-oop, on and on. It was a transcendent game from the young superstar.

Kind of depressing that our ceiling is capped at "plucky, hard-playing upstart that maybe wins a round or two" for the next 8 years because of these two teams.

Help us Rasheer Fleming. You're our only hope.

I admit I didn't believe you. I thought the Spurs might get a game or two. But after watching that last night I now think the Thunder will be lucky if they don't get swept although they will make adjustments and could make a series of it.

And don't forget that casual stop and shoot 3 to tie it at the end of the first OT. He was running back with the ball and I swear he had barely passed the half court line when he let it fly.

Yeah, and it didn't seem like the rest of the Spurs were even that impressive. I think you could put basically any team around him and they would be this good.

I dunno about that. I thought a lot of their guys did well. Harper had 24-11-6 with 7 steals (!); Castle had 17. I thought their guards did a great job attacking the basket and getting right to the rim. Vassell shot 3-6 from 3.

But clearly Wemby was the star of the show. That game was really special and memorable, maybe one of the all-time great breakout playoff performances by a young superstar. And it seems like if Wemby got hurt or couldn't play for some reason, the Spurs would get destroyed by OKC.

Harper was very good, especially on defense…he is an impressive rookie. Castle had moments, but he really struggled with the Thunder pressure and had 11 turnovers. They could use Fox to beat some of that pressure.

The cool thing about this series is watching 2 teams with absolutely dominant stars and deep smart teams. Neither team has a true #2 option like the ECF teams have. But both teams have 5 dudes on the floor playing at a high level at all times. Anybody could drop 25 in the next game. So fun to watch.
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.
