2026 NBA Playoffs - NBA Finals (Spurs vs Knicks)
Re: 2026 NBA Playoffs - NBA Finals (Spurs vs Knicks)
Spurs coach looked in way over his head, he didn't do anything to stop the bleeding, nothing. How stood there dumbfounded. Pop is probably rolling over in his grave as we speak.

You don’t lose a game with a 29 point lead at halftime with a couple blunders on the 4th.
To get to that point of vulnerability, you necessarily lost grip of the game, both mentally and by failing to execute a 2nd half gameplan, so this loss it’s on the coach to me.
The Knicks’ mistakes on the other hand, would have been crucial because they needed to be perfect all 4th quarter, after cutting that lead in half in the 3rd, but this is where the Wenbanyana missed fits killed them, you are leader and the team is on your shoulders, but it was already collective panic up to that point. That’s why Fox was trying to get an and-1 and almost pull it off, you can even argue that he was fouled on the play, but I don’t blame him for wanting to avoid the FT line without a basket on their side. I don’t think his team looks at it as a blunder, just as a failed dagger attempt.
Brunson miss wasn’t a bad call as well, just an awful shot, but I’m pretty sure the instruction was to take the first semi open look possible and everyone crashing the boards for an offensive rebound with some time on the clock. If he waits longer, the double team would have trapped him and maybe not even a shot is released by him or any teammate, there was not open shot possible to be created here.
Down the stretch this was a battle, but the Spurs allowed the Knicks to be in that position, a lead this big have to be surrendered, not just taken by the opposing team’s runs.

I hear you, but, there is absolutely no way a team this young can shake off a generational choke job like they just put up, and turn around to win their next 3 in a row. None whatsoever. It would be almost insurmountable for any team, but especially for a team of 21-22 year olds, there is no way they'll be able to hold their heads high and get back in this series after a giveaway like that. I think the Knicks take the series in 5 now.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 7:27 amThe scary thing is that this is the Spurs' floor. They might lose this series, but who would be surprised if they won the next 3?
Re: 2026 NBA Playoffs - NBA Finals (Spurs vs Knicks)
Shooting with 5 seconds left on the clock was a good strategy. Rather shooting at the buzzer and winning or losing, it gives you a chance after a miss like it played out. The Suns could learn from that.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 6:53 amThen there's the fact that Brunson takes a horrible shot with 5 sec left on the clock which badly clanks off the rim. If the Knicks don't get that rebound and putback, they lose the game and everybody is talking about Brunson's lousy shot selection and Hart's blown layup.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Sorry, I meant, "They might lose this championship series, but who would be surprised if they won the next 3 championships?" Yeah, I totally think 2026 belongs to the Knicks. And congrats to Mikal!Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 10:13 amI hear you, but, there is absolutely no way a team this young can shake off a generational choke job like they just put up, and turn around to win their next 3 in a row. Ah, gotcha. Yes, they will have a great chance to compete for the title each of the next 4-5 seasons.

Hi guys, sorry that the site went down yesterday. The hosting provider auto shut down the site because of a huge spike in access and CPU usage. I think it was some kind of attack attempt. I got the site back up and running; hopefully we can post during Game 5 tonight.

Re: 2026 NBA Playoffs - NBA Finals (Spurs vs Knicks)
Spurs got out to a big lead at first but have quieted down a bit. Some foul trouble on Wemby. Knicks back within 5 at the half with a very low score of 42-37. Castle is one player I keep my eye on for the Spurs and he's done almost nothing so far, not a good sign. I like the way Champagnie is playing though. For the Knicks it seems like it's all Brunson and Josh Hart, though Mikal has put in a few buckets.
