At least they gave a little bit of insight into what happened to the 2% of people who disappeared. It's good to get the closure of knowing. Nora goes through that device to the other side and sees that the 2% of people all were left in their own world without the other 98% of people and had to make it work. I do think it would have been cooler if they had shown Nora going across to the other side and seeing the people. And I don't see why she wouldn't just stay there with her family rather than come back alone. But oh well, whatever. I was really worried they were going to keep it completely unanswered and unexplored through to the end.
I'm glad you guys liked The Leftovers but it just didn't totally work for me. It felt like Season 2 was a total reset / reboot because the show was way off track, which it was. But I didn't like the new track either, nor most of the new characters and setting they introduced in Season 2. And then the excursion to AU in Season 3 mostly didn't interest me. Anyway I don't want to spend a bunch of words crapping on something that others enjoyed. Apparently different people are allowed to like different things!
Wife and I watched the season finale of Widow's Bay the other day. REALLY enjoyed this show! Spooky, intense, but also funny and clever and witty. Somehow the comedy works with the horror and neither detracts from the other. Great acting from Matthew Rhys, Stephen Root, and especially the awesome Kate O'Flynn who turns in a masterful performance. My wife has rewatched the whole show 2-3 times with her family members and claims it is very rewatchable and that you see new things each time. This is the best show of 2026. Watch this show right away.

My wife and I mostly really liked this season after a rough S2. It was not perfect; several characters had stories that went nowhere, like Alicent, or stories that went achingly slowly, like Aemond's or Halaena's or Criston Cole's. And some of the character motivations were ridiculous, such as Alicent, a mother, willingly becoming an active participant in trying to murder her own son. No mom would ever do that, certainly not for the reasons shown in the show. I've read that Fire and Blood book readers are largely disappointed with the show and some of the changes they've made. GRRM himself has mostly disowned the show and said that it is "not his story" any more.
But other than those criticisms, we really enjoyed the season. There were several characters we really enjoyed, like Ormund Hightower, Gwayne Hightower, Aegon Targaryen, most of the Velaryons' scenes, and others. The battles were excellently shot, the dragon fights were great, and it was fun to see the balance of power flip this season to have Rhaenyra on the throne and the greens on their back foot. I thought they did a very good job showing how Rhaenyra could slowly turn from a compassionate ruler who cared about her people to a screaming zealot standing on the steps of the sept after killing the high septon, shouting at her people in Valyrian about being the chosen one. HotD did a much better job of turning their queen bad than GoT did with Danaerys.
I think the season went a bit too slowly, and I wish the midseason episodes had moved a bit faster in particular. And it definitely felt like episodes 1-2 were meant to be the climax of Season 2, but oh well. I really enjoyed it as a whole, and I'm sad to have to wait until the final Season 4 in a few years.

S1 is really great, right up there with good seasons of Thrones and AKotSK I think. The king, Viserys, is a treat and the centerpiece of the show. S2 is not as good as S1. Without spoilers, I think one specific issue people had is that S2 has various plots building up, and then the season just kind of ends without actually paying most of those stories off. It feels abrupt. And then you read that they actually wanted S2 to be 10 episodes but were forced to cut it to 8. Now we have S3, and if you sort of glue the first 2 episodes of S3 onto the end of S2, it makes a much more enjoyable overall story to watch. So if you haven't watched the show, you can just show up and binge all of it and I don't think you'll be nearly as upset about S2, since it won't feel incomplete for literally 2-3 years while they made the next season. S3 was enjoyable, almost as good as S1, at times really electric and exciting. I think overall the show has been good and is worth watching if you like Thrones and/or Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
